ROYAL KASITE Cast Iron Teapot features a fully enameled interior that not only makes cleaning easier, but helps to prevent the build-up of rust and oxidation. It includes a stainless steel infuser for loose or bagged tea that ensures it will not alter or detract from the taste of your brew. One of the most common materials when crafting teapots, cast iron is beneficial due to the way it evenly absorbs heat. The gradual and even heating from the cast iron infuses the greatest amount of flavor from the tea leaves into the water. This strengthens the flavor of the tea, and any positive nutrients the leaves contain are also infused into the water. Cast iron also retains heat much better than any other material. To use, add loose or bagged tea into the infuser and insert it into the teapot. Slowly pour hot water over the tea and allow it to steep to 3-5 minutes, and enjoy. To clean, do not use any dish washing detergent. Instead, use only clean water. Do not leave tea or water in the pot for longer than an hour, and dry thoroughly after each use. Not dishwasher safe. Not terribly functional
There is a black paint finish on this that peels off into the water. You're supposed to be able to heat it on the stove bc it's cast iron, but if there is more than about 3 oz of water in it, when it reaches a boil, it shoots boiling water out of the spout like a literal geyser. Very dangerous.

Just what i wanted
Very nice tea set, well made and attractive. Just wish it came complete with a trivet (although they do sell the matching one separately, so it's not that big a deal). The pieces are also glazed inside, so you don't have to worry about the cast iron rusting if you don't take meticulous care to dry them out right away after using.

We recieved this and washed it up and used it the next morning. Our green tea was full of black flakes. We recieved a full refund but doubt we will buy this type of product painted cast iron, mail order again.
