Great product! Tons of fun!
I bought this and a bag of the name brand Kinetic sand at the same time to compare them here's what I discovered. The Nat Geo brand is finer grain sand. It's a bit direr, and it's much lighter colour than the name brand. (I purchased the natural/ucoloured for each type.) However it also shows fine detail much, much better than the name brand and is more pleasing to touch as the finer grain sand makes it feel smoother and softer. It almost feels fluffy. The name brand is more moist and stiffer so it holds shape better. It also seems like it will last longer as it doesn't leave sand on your hands like the Nat Geo brand. Every time the Nat Geo sand is played with a little is lost due to it sticking to hands and clothes. It's hard to say which brand I prefer because they're both great. I mixed the two sands in the same container so hopefully they'll mesh well together! I will try try to update my review if I have problems with mixing the two sands. One con I have to give is the Nat Geo box was full of ants. The sand was sealed in a bag so thankfully they didn't invade the sand. I don't know if these ants were picked up at the facility where the product was manufactured, or the Amazon warehouse, or in transit to my home but there had to have been about 4 dozen ants at least. It is alright...but I will go with Kinetic sand next time
The media could not be loaded. I made a video to show the few issues that we've come across in the 20ish minutes that we've been playing with this sand...Alll in all I like this & but only like it, not love.Cons:1. It doesn't stick together nearly as well as kinetic sand2. It's finer grain more powdery sand.3. It was kind of dry out of the package I had to add some water for it to stick together all in all4. It is finer grain sand & doesn't stick together as well so clean up as a little bit more difficult but not awful...it's a decent product but I would rather go with Kinetic Sand then this National Geographic fansPros.. The molds are cute & sturdy.I would be more than happy to buy the molds by themselves & I would buy the National Geographics & again if it was on a steep discount as I said it's okay it's just not as good as the kinetic brand.

Gets a 5 star rating from child and parents!
Bought this because our daughter loves to play with sand but regular sand is so messy it is not advisable for inside play. This can be used inside and it doesn't stick to hands and clothes, etc... anything like normal sand does. It seems somewhat similar to brown sugar in it's appearance and consistency, but generally looks and feels like sand and is in every way perfect for making sand castles or just general messing around with sand. Our daughter loves it! Because cleanup is almost nil, we love it as much as she does! We bought another brand of colored sand for an inside sand box with quickly turned out to be a disaster because the sand got everywhere and stuck to everything. It was an absolute nightmare to keep it clean. No such issues with this sand. It really does work as well as it claims. We will be ordering more! Highly recommended!

Not good for indoor play
Even though there were mixed reviews, we decided to try it due to the NatGeo brand... The sand is not ideal for indoor play - its messy as its not it leaves particles all over (its not as cohesive as Kinetic sand). The sand also has a strong chemical smell - this might go away after a while. This is probably better for outdoors.

hours of fun
My two year old has a large tray full of this stuff on his table and spends more time than I can count pushing his little diggers around in it. I leave it out all the time, don't pack it back up or cover it or anything and it seems perfectly fine (we've had it out in the open for about 2 months now), or at least it serves our purpose very well. It does, however, turn your floor into slippery glass, if you don't have a carpet, so, careful with the little ones - and yourself - when they start to make a mess!

What's the problem people? It's sand! Sand is messy duh
I'm not sure why so many people are saying it's not kinetic sand?It is exactly that! And by the way if you've ever been to a beach you know sand is messy. Also kids are messy lol so clearly it has the potential to make mess. And staining/color transfer is non existent if you get the natural color sand. Not sure why people would think dye added into sand won't have the potential to transfer. My children love this sand.Totally different texture than Play-Doh or clayThey seem to enjoy it very much.

Best play sand
This sand is soft and doesn’t dry out like other kinetic sand. I’ve purchased other brands - but this is my favorite. I used this sand to make a construction site sensory bin for my son and he enjoys building sand castles and tearing them down with his little construction vehicles. It’s a lot of fun for him! When you remove sand from packaging, it is stiff - but after you break it apart, it’s great!

Bought it for the mini molds, the sand sucks!
So bummed I mixed this with our Original Kinetic Sand...this consistency is dry and crumbly. The color is also sort of yellow-y. I basically bought it for the mini molds to add to my son’s sensory bin. Would not recommend this sand though.

Great for kids... and their parents!
My daughter has this and it’s great! She is 2 and it keeps her occupied for ages! The little plastic sandcastle makers are beautiful and intricate and look amazing when made! Really easy for her to do! I find it fun too! I have just bought 3 more packs for presents for friends toddlers! They are going down very well!

Great for therapeutic use
I bought this for therapeutic use. My young clients will love it, the colour is vibrant and it’s so tactile and mouldable. It’s great.
