Sound Modules for the Do-It-Yourself-er
If you love giving Cards for Birthdays, Weddings, Graduations, <insert card-able holidays> with sound, this may be the purchase for you. I had never made or used anything like this before so I was worried it would be too complex. I am however Very familiar with audio file formats and computers. The instructions included in what you receive are pretty clear on how to attach the module to the USB dongle. The website for editing your music down to the # of seconds of sound is also pretty self-explanatory. The conversion utility for the sound file was a little trickier, but the video referred to in the instructions can be replayed (yay for slow-folks like me). Placing the sticky part was a little difficult, and the video could have made this clearer but the device functioned Very Well.I bought the sound modules to make a card for my soon to be wife on our wedding day. I edited my mp3 down to the proper length, loaded it to the module, tested it, then placed it in the hand made card.this product was everything i expected, and made for a very happy, sentiment-filled gift to my new bride. Plus, i also have 2 extra modules to make future cards with!

I figured I could easily substitute mine
Super-easy to record whatever you want onto these.Volume was louder than I expected too! :-)Only reason I gave it a four was that I had a hard time getting it to work consistently. The modules came with a link to a video that describes how to attach it to one of their cards.[...] and the video is clear enough, but... I didn't have one of their cards. No problem, I figured I could easily substitute mine. And I did, and thought I stayed faithfully to the instructions, but alas, when I opened my card--- with module-attached--- it seemed to only work half the time... unless the card was opened unnaturally wide (like... 180 degrees or wider).I ended up having to tell my recipient "Now, you've gotta open this card really wide........." which made for some fun humor, but alerted him to the surprise. :-/

Got to be a better product than this
Bought multiple of these for a Halloween project. 1 DOA, 2 worked about 5 times then stopped. Replaced batteries, worked a couple more times then died all together. 2 worked, but could not record to them. Got to be a better product than this.

Easy to program
Easy to program, but the audio is not very loud so its difficult to hear. I used it in a custom calendar. I would not recommend it if you needed something that was loud. I don't think my grandmother could hear the recording from this device sitting in a quiet room. The audio seems louder while hooked to the computer.

Perfect device except..
I followed directions and the sound quality was just not very loud. Not sure what I did wrong. It also was bigger and bulkier than others I had seen. For the price.. I gave it an ok rating.

Got 3, worked flawlessly, awesome & cheap!
Very easy to work with. Added a normally closed switch and soldered some wires to the pads. It's very important that if you want to add a switch to the circuit that it must be a NC (normally closed) switch. They have them at RadioShack. I tried to make it sound like angels singing when the box is opened, works well enough to make me smile. The only thing I think could be improved with the board design is to hear the audio while it is being recorded. Currently when you record audio to the device it records silently. Everything works fine no problem just think it would be easier to have that feedback of what the audio will sound like as it is being recorded. I've uploaded a video of my project to youtube. [...]

the software is super easy to use to put in whatever music you ...
I used this to make a music box for my (then) girlfriend, with an engagement ring inside. The tab was touchy, and would only make contact or disconnect with deliberate pulls (probably because it was meant for cards). I switched out the tab for a light diode, so when light hit the music would start. I put the entire piece inside of a decorative wooden box.It worked perfectly. Device aside, the software is super easy to use to put in whatever music you want. If you compress the file enough, you can get a lot of time out of it.Also, she said yes. So 5 stars.

Great gift Ideas
Awesome gift ideas! Made a card, self recorded a song on my iphone and gave it to my girlfriend for Valentines day! She LOVED IT!Bang! Didn't need romantic dinner, expensive gifts, all taken care of for under $30.The program they provided is pretty simple to use, but putting the recorder into the card is a little tricky though. Had to try a few time before i got it, nonetheless, still awesome
