GREAT NO DRAFTS, GREAT QUALITY
I have had two pet doors previous to this one and they were both drafty. My door has raised panels, so there were a couple of small gaps where the frame of the pet door didn't meet the door. I used some foam backer rod to fill in the gaps. the pet door now is so air tight that when I open another door you can hear this door suck in a little (doesn't open, you can just hear it suck in a little). If your door doesn't have raised panels and is smooth, you will not need the backer rod, although I did shove some in the "slides" for the solid panel that slides to close use of the door. The panes of this door are also clearer (not cloudy like the plastic flaps) my dog loves to lay in front of it looking out watching his yard from the comfort of the house! grin If your dog has never used a pet door before, you may need to leave it propped open for a day or so to get them started using it. I love my pet door, no potty accidents and I don't have to try to remember to let him out! GREAT PRODUCT QUALITY.SEPTEMBER, 2013 UPDATE: I have two dogs running in and out all day and this door is still holiding up like new! I am VERY PLEASED with the quality of this door. Had an Energy Audit done last Winter and tech guy said this is the least drafty pet door he has ever seen. Hope this helps you decide on a pet door. My little guys love it and I do too!

Great dog door.
When we bought our house a few years ago there were already dog doors installed. To get outside the dog has to go from entry way to the garage through one dog door and from the garage to outside through a second dog door. The first dog door was a flimsy, one flap, small door that made the front part of our house and the bottom of our stairs drafty. We were basically blowing our heat right out the door. Not to mention our lab mix never fit well through it and even less so after his weight gain over the past few years. We finally decided to splurge and get a new door, but after a year of shopping around we found this one. It took less than an hour to install and that included removing our door and cutting a bigger hole. We really like that it seals all the way around the door and not just at the bottom like most. It is a good size for our dog that as I said is a lab mix at about 60-70 lbs. It only took him a couple tries to get the hang of it. While it's still only October here in frigid Wyoming, we've still had a couple snow storms and in the three weeks we've had it I've noticed a significant temperature difference in the aforementioned areas. The only thing I have noticed is if my dog goes out the door a certain way there can be a "buckle" at one of the folds. It doesn't happen often and all I have to do is push the door and let it fall back in to place to correct it. Definitely a nicer door for anywhere from $30-100 cheaper than other doors not nearly as nice.

I already had one and was replacing as the rubber ...
I already had one and was replacing as the rubber weather stripping on the bottom had torn do to 3 years of use. The replacement fit in the alreading existing hole perfectly. The only issue I have is this one does not seem to seal as well as the original. I can see air gaps at the bottom where the rubber strip should touch and around the outside edges of the magnetic swinging door. This is going to be an issue since Wisconsin Winters are very cold. Not sure if the one I got is faulty or if this is how the new products are being made verses the original I got 3 years ago. The original was part of a glass insert for my patio door.

We recommend this door to our closest of friends!
This is our second Ideal Pet door with the three thermal block panels, we have two small dogs who have no problem pushing the panels open on the smaller door. Then we got a rottweiller puppy that quickly outgrew the door size so we bought this X-Large one. Both size dogs can easily open the door with no problem, even our cats can do it.Right after installing it we had heavy winds that was freezing us out in the house during the two days we used just a large flap in the bigger dog door hole while waiting on the new door to be delivered. As soon as the new door was installed we had no more wind blowing inside! Very sturdy door, but easy for even the cats and small dogs to use.The hole measurements were actually 1/2" wider than what it stated in this listing at the time of our purchase, but that as easily fixed. The door was easily installed. We used it in a wall instead of a door, so my husband simply framed in the hollow space in the wall, then screwed the door frame to each side if the wall hole. No wall kit was needed doing it this way.

Returned
Had to Return due to no Fault of the product! Company took it back right away. It was simply wrong size. But it was well made, the doors hard and easy to move yet the magnet held nicely. Very nice door

We love it. Dogs love it.
I highly recommend this door.We purchased this to replace our 10 year old dog door for two medium sized dogs. We got the XL door because our dogs are now 12 and 13 and thought the bigger door might make it easier for them to go in and out. The down side with the bigger door is that the kids (3 and 4)think its for them too. The install was quick and easy. The scariest part is making the initial cut in the brand new 3/4 glass screen door we bought just for this purpose. We use the screen door set up primarily for security so we can close the main door when leaving town, and for the winter months to block out the extreme cold. The door is tripple insulated and did well during the summer months, but haven't had it for a bitter cold winter yet. This door is much quieter than our last door too, interms of opening and closing. The seal is tight enough that wind doesn't open and close it.I decided on this door after going to Home Depot looking to buy a repalcement door. But they don't keep any in stock, only special order, so I grabber a flier. I went to Lowe's and they only stocked insulated dog doors up to medium. Menard's had a couple dog doors but they were more like thin plastic flaps. So I went on-line, read reviews, and ultimately purchased this door for much less, including shipping

the product is what they say
door flap is nice, but does stick when cold ....biggest thing is to get the dog to learn how to use it. lol liked the product
