Works as expected.
As an OTR truck driver, I'm often away from home for weeks at a time. I have a newer Chevy pickup with lots of electronics and an AFM disabler plugged into the OSB port which cause a significant parasitic draw from the battery. I unplug the AFM disabler and use a battery tender to keep the battery charged when out on the road. However, I don't always have easy access to an outlet where I park my truck which is why I purchased this solar charger. The first time I used this charger, there was a snow storm(ND) and the sky was cloudy when I left on an East Coast run, so, I was thinking this would be a perfect time to test for long term use. As I mentioned before, I usually unplug the AFM disabler before leaving my truck sit for that long but this time, I forgot. Of course, I didn't realize this until I was hours away and decided this was going to be a do or die test for the battery. AGM batteries are not cheap but this one is getting to the limit of it's useful life anyway. Ten days later, I got back to the home yard just before sunrise and was very curious to see how well the charger worked. So, I popped the hood of my pickup and checked the battery with a voltmeter which showed it was fully charged, even after sitting overnight. There had been several sunny days after the storm, the solar panel was on my dash using the attached support bracket to keep it at the same angle as the windshield, and the pickup was facing South. The build quality seems to be very good and appears that it would be perfectly reliable in wet and freezing outdoor weather. In fact, I think this thing could hold up against 1 inch sized hail.I would recommend this for any temporary or permanently mounted battery charging and maintaining needs.

Pretty good solar 12V battery maintainer.
As you can see in the first picture, I have a 3.5-year-old car battery that is dead. I connected the solar panel to this battery via the included alligator clips. The battery is a 78 series, 800 CCA battery. Twenty-five hours later, the battery was up over two volts. Again, this battery is damaged, and I just wanted to see how the panel would charge it if at all. I left the solar panel on for about a week. The panel was unable to bring the battery to twelve volts but that didn't surprise me. It did maintain the damaged battery at 11.77 volts even with the car alarm set and some rainy weather. Typically, it takes a 10–20-watt solar charger to maintain a car battery. This panel being 15-watt panel, should do the trick for a good battery. I did not try the cigarette charging cord or the suction cups. I used the stand on the panel, which had rubber pads, to prop up the panel on the hood of the car. As mentioned before, it did rain quite a bit and it did not affect the panel at all. Overall, this is a sturdy solar panel that seems to be good quality and I hope to get years of use out of it.

Good Quality Solar Battery Charger
Item came with the solar charge panel, alligator battery clip connectors, a car cigarette plug, a set of 4 suction cups, and a set of 4 magnetic mounts. The solar panel has a built in charge controller, which will prevent overcharge and over voltage - while maintaining an efficient charge rate. This function is different than directly hooking up a solar panel to a battery. The panel has a decently long cord, which then will "quick connect" to the battery alligator cables or the cigarette port. The cable length was long enough for me to put the panel on top of my carport, and have enough cord to make it to the car under the carport. The panel has several mounting options. The suction cups work well if mounting on glass or window. The built in kickstand allows for a quick setup, but probably not suggested for "permanent" mounting. The mounting slots (one in each corner) would also work for screw or nail mounting options. Finally, there is the magnetic mounts - which I chose to use. I have a metal roof carport, and the magnets did stick to the metal without issue. I do wish the magnets were a little stronger - I may need to also apply some double sided tape to a few of the contact point areas. The body of the panel looks well made and looks like it can take some abuse. It is also waterproof. My only concern with the ABS frame is the constant sun exposure. I assume it will be fine, but time will tell.Very handy solar battery charger/maintainer. Recommend!

Decent size
Decent size solar panel. I have an older one that's about half this size, isn't very rugged and I can't say it did a lot. This unit is significantly larger and is built rugged.I primarily got this for our camping needs. We do a lot of off-grid camping and sometimes we don't use our vehicle for a couple weeks at a time. I don't want to be stranded out in the middle of nowhere, so a battery maintainer is just another safety net for me to hopefully not have a dead battery. We also have a car that sits at home for weeks on end because it's not one of our daily drivers. Being able to mount this inside on the windshield works well as a preventive measure. Overall happy with it so far given it's size and durability, and hope to get a few years of use out of it.
