Solid metal clamp, long enough b=cables, the ability to connect and record either to a smartphone or DSLR, a terrific price point and ultimately the sound quality just totally rules.I tried this during an interview and was immediately sold. I've had cheap lapel mics and you can hear the lack of bass and tonal range on others. But this microphone has an amazing sound quality. Others in my department also were shocked to know that this kit costs less than $11 now. It has the extension cable, a TRRS connection, a TRRS to TRS connection bullet for mini plug DSLRs, and it works like a charm.I cannot comment on the cable build - these can be thick rubber over hair-thin copper (or any metal they use). Perhaps one day I will get one just to cut it apart to see just how well-designed the cord is, because that is the most vulnerable part of a lapel microphone, through many instances of unraveling/rewrapping.The downside is that you can only buy one at a time. Think of this though: these microphones have a sound quality as good as lapel mics that cost nearly $100. You can buy 8 for the same price. The drawback that most of these have, is that you won't get the screw-in Sennheiser connection that some want. But the connection itself snaps in and feels sturdy. An absolute "buy."

As amateurs in video making, this made the quality of videos much better. On the earlier videos you can hear background noise, quite loud actually, that the phone picked up. With this microphone it really concentrates on the voice of the person, not the other noises around. Would definitely recommend.

Price made me wonder about the quality of the mic but I thought for less than a ten bucks (with a 5% off coupon!), I'd give it a shot.I tested the mic in a hot room with no a/c, all windows closed, but with a noisy and powerful oscillating fan running in the background. Fan could be heard but not as bad as I was expecting. It sounded like a mellow hum but not as loud or annoying as I would have thought.I also tested in my car, windows closed, but the a/c on full blast; it happened to also be sprinkling rain. Background noise was barely detectable but sound was better than if I was using handsfree mic on my iPhone.I intend to use the mic for a podcast. I'd been using the integrated mic on a pair Koss headphones, which did the job, but still allowed a lot of background noise while recording remotely on my iPhone.This mic is a few notches better than the integrated mic that I was using, so for the price it was definitely worth it. At the same time, the mic is not any better than the mic on the Koss headphones so one-star deduction for that reason.

I loved this little microphone. I make daily videos and kept the microphone in a case with my tripod. I was careful with it, but after 3 months it died. shame won't buy this brand again, unless they offer a replacement!

Loved this mic! Ordered it in May and it was exactly what I wanted: well-built, hefty, user friendly (just plug and play) But it completely quit on me in the last week or so. Noticed they have a hassle free replacement policy and I can see how that might come in handy...

It works with my Samsung Galaxy S7 (TRRS input). But the sound is only "okay." Because it's close to the source, it does a pretty good job of cutting through background noise (this was really surprising).However, I needed to use it with a multi-input recording device using a stereo input (TRS), and I couldn't get it to work at all with the TRRS -> TRS converter. I tried using it on three different devices, and it didn't work on any of them (based on other reviews, my guess is that the one they sent me was defective). So, for me, it's mostly a waste of money.

The microphone is clear and the audio recording sound is great. I’m able to make better videos now. The length of the wire is good because I can put the camera a good distance away from me.
