Turkish towels are a product unique to Turkey that are used today in a wide range of settings including at the beach, during yoga and gym classes, or as a travel companion. These towels have various different names, the most common being a peshtemal. A peshtemal is the traditional name given to the woven towel that was originally used to cover the body in a Turkish hammam or bath – another traditional Turkish custom. Peshtemals have a history of nearly 600 years and originated in Anatolia, Turkey. These towels are also known as a pestemal, fringet towel, tassel towel or a hammam towel. A silk peshtemal is called a fota, but peshtemal is usually woven by cotton, linen or bamboo yarn.

Very satisfactory purchase!
As it gets harder to carry the usual load of heavy cases for our holidays, I wanted to try some lighter substitutes for some of the necessary items. I’d never really been aware of this style of towel, but reading the feedback from Amazon customers who had already otried them, I decided that this could be the solution to replacing the big heavy beach towels that usually half-fill my case! There are lots to choose from on Amazon, from many different sources, but comparing them, this appeared to be a good buy. The feedback was all good, so I ordered them, choosing the colours I wanted in the message to sellers box. Within a couple of days they were here and they certainly meet my expectations. The colours are lovely, they are beautifully soft and I was delighted to find a free gift of a hand towel in my parcel. I will wash them before I go away, just to remove any finish that might be in them, but it’s probably not strictly necessary. They don’t have any bad smell or anything, just a lovely fresh linen scent. I’m really happy with this purchase, and would highly recommend the product, and the seller.

Multi-purpose alternative to fluffy towels when not at home
I first discovered these lightweight towels in Bali. They are light, yet absorbent, quick drying and more practical on the beach than fluffy towels.You can use them as sarongs and to covert your modesty while changing in and out of swim ware. I take mine to the gym where I can spread them out over the exercise mats and sit-upon equipment. They take up very little room in my backpack so I take one of these with me whenever I go on a walk or picnic. I found this 3-towel Turkish Hammam set good value. Delivery of my Amazon order for this product was fast and efficient.

Very happy with towels
I was sceptical about this style of towel but a friend recommended. I’m really pleased. Super fast delivery, great quality and price. Used recently and found them perfect for drying off after a swim. And I’m sure they’ll dry really quickly in the heat.

Another great set of towels
Lovely items- not my first order but always so pleased with them that I return to these guys over again. Sent some to my mum this time and she loves them as well. A few washes and tumble drys and they soften up lovely. Dry quickly so perfect for travelling

These wonderful towels arrived in a flash, and are perfect for sea and river swims if walking any distance. So light and absorbent. Great colours, great quality and first class customer service. Will be ordering more.
