RTNLIT Inline Lamp Dimmer Switch for Lamp Cord, Full Range Rotary Light Dimmer for Floor Lamp, Table Lamp, Dimmable LED, Incandescent, Halogen Bulbs(White)

Just went to turn on the lamp with this dimmer switch. It sparked, popped, shut down my surge protector and flipped my breaker. It could have caused a serious electrical fire. It is completely defective now and I am going to return to Amazon for a refund.

I was able to install this pretty easily and quickly. As others have said, remove the dial first then pull apart. By following the pictures in the description, I figured out that the side the dial is closest to is supposed to go to the lamp. And of course, you'll need to insert the wires into the terminal and screw those down with the screws that are already there.It really wasn't too bad, and seems to work well.

My contractor, Neil, installed this with bright light so I could dim it to lower light level. Works great!

Don’t know just yet. I got it yesterday and will install it tomorrow. There was no instructions with the unit which were supposed to be with the unit. It should be simple to install. Just want to make certain that power to the unit is put on the correct terminal end, since the device has a small circuit board and I don’t want to damage the circuitry by wiring it incorrectly. Other than that I like what I see.

This is not my first electrical install, so I know what I'm doing. This switch failed after just a couple of turns of the dial. I had continuity, just something blew out in the switch, I guess. DO NOT BUY.

While I do have some knowledge of wiring it took me a couple of tries to figure out how to properly wire this little dimmer into the circuit. THERE ARE NOT ANY INSTRUCTIONS WITH THIS PACKAGE. You will need to completely disassemble the device; remove the rotating dimmer knob, cut and strip the wires of the lamp cord you are adding this to; insert the wire into the fittings on the small circuit board and tighten the screws to hold the wires tight. The small screws in the package are loose so secure them when opening the package so you don't lose them. After a couple of tries I figured it all out, but it was annoying without any directions. I do like the rotating knob to adjust the brightness; it is more accurate than a slider switch. Good Luck

love that you can infintely adjust the LED bulb to the lumens you want- just make sure the bulbs you use are dimmable but although this is a little pricey is definitely the way to go
