Impressive sound quality
A good and impressive range of sound that enhances the latest LG range of TVs.With a wireless subwoofer so no annoying cables to be ran. This thing is potent, the bass is a little bit hollow, but for the price this adds to the enjoyment when watching movie or music content. The setup can detect Dolby Atmos from streaming services like Netflix. There is an additional 2 speakers that can purchased to turn this from a 5.1 to a 7.1 audio experience. The unit is taller than I first expected, but it needs to be to house the 5 speakers.I came from a 5.1 Kenwood Cinema Surround system from a few years ago and I must say that this is definitely on par with that setup. The unit can be connected via eARC or Optical.

Great quality sound for the price.
Managed to purchase this soundbar at half price and what a bargain it was. The sound is excellent!! It has helped to bring our TV viewing to life. Punchy base and very clear mid and upper ranges. The Dolby Atmos is quite good but not as outstanding as we hoped. Saying that it does make up for it in many other ways. We only ever have ours up to around 65% volume at most so the power is more than enough for us. Nice little feature to control the settings on your phone and the ARC is only a welcomed plus by reducing cables. Would recommend. Pairs very well with LG OLED.

OK but not fantastic on its own - needs rear speakers
Sound quality out of this is surprisingly good considering it's all coming out of a single bar and not separate speakers, and the product only costs around £600 for a Dolby Atmos solution.Initial setup was easy. Just download the app, connect it to the soundbar, connect to your wifi, and then you can do everything from the app. Actually, to be fair the remote control is simple to use too and you can do most things from that as well! The soundbar found and connected to the sub woofer automatically, so no need to manually pair it or anything (but there are simple instructions on how to do that if it doesn't sync up on it's own.)I started playing some music (Chromecasting it from my phone) while I hooked the soundbar up to the TV, etc.It sounded rubbish (yeah I know I've said the sound quality is good, but bear with me). Out of the box the bass was set to minimum (-5) and the treble was at full (+5). The result was a horrid tinny sound with no shape. It didnt take long to fix, but I've found I've needed to whack the subwoofer level and bass level (2 separate settings) up to nearly max to get a decent sound out of it. Considering the size of the sub it surprises me it's so gutless at default levels.I didn't expect room filling sound from a soundbar with no rear speakers, but actually it does a reasonable job at trying to make it sound like noises are coming from other than straight in front of you, even if the soundtrack isn't Dolby Atmos. It doesn't manage to produce a proper 3D sound stage like you should expect from Dolby Atmos, but that's the compromise you get from only a Soundbar and a Subwoofer. That brings me onto... I bought the rear speakers too (another £150), but this is worth every penny, and more! Again for some random reason the sound level for the rears were set to minimum by default, but setting them back to '0' fixed things. The difference to the sound stage with the rears connected is incredible. You suddenly do feel in the centre of a movie with a clarity of sound reproduction that is surprisingly precise from a single soundbar and 2 rear speakers! It makes you wonder why LG didn't just include the rear speakers in the first place as a lot of people will be missing out massively on the surround sound experience and could be put off LG and Dolby Atmos because of it!My only real gripes are:1) it's only got one HDMI in which is a bit stingy (but that's quite common on soundbars).2) the subwoofer low-pass filter isn't configurable and cuts the LFE (low frequency effects) off too early for my liking. This is also evident when playing music as only the lowest bass notes play loudly through the sub.3) it's VERY wide. This is good for sound reproduction but not so good for placement as you need a very wide TV unit for it.

Amazing sound from the bar just on it's own
Very skeptikal at first bit the soundbar is amazing! The detail is fantastic, some have mentioned about the loudness but I feel that for a medium sized room it is very loud and full if clarity. The atmos effect is good invest the content has come through. The out of box settings need to be tweaked but once in movie mode the bar comes to life.I can also confirm that it does support HDR passthrough as well as 4K.I had an Onkyo separates system and I struggle to notice the difference.

Easy to use but below par performance from Subwoofer
Whilst this unit is exceptionally easy to use, and provides an overall positive audio experience, the Bass reproduction and presentation from the sub-woofer is significantly underwhelming! You can hardly here any low-end audio, which is what would be expected, especially from a dedicated subwoofer. This might as well not come with a subwoofer (which is one of the reasons why i bought this rather than a stand-alone soundbar.I'd given 3 stars for Sound quality purely on the decent overall sound quality from the soundbar itself, not on acccount of the subwoofer performance.

Oh wow
Late 2020 I purchased a new LG TV which is a seriously awesome bit of kit, so when I started searching for Soundbars I was happy to see the LG SK9Y was the perfect match for my tv. The Dolby Atmos feature was a must so I was expecting to pay £900 or more, so I was overjoyed to see this for £599.I have never even heard a sound bar before so to say I was blown away when we were watching The Mandalorian was an understatement. The subwoofer that sits behind one of the chairs is more than powerful enough for our living room, in fact I am quite worried about what our neighbours must be thinking. The app you can download to use and setup is quite brilliant also. One of the best things about this soundbar, although great with the TV applications, is when it can be used simply for music. Spotify from any networked device in your home (phone, PC, tablet etc) can stream direct to the soundbar via wi-fi or Blutooth. Its the best music system I've had. The music sound mode when cranked up is clear and powerful. It comes with the option to add rear surround speakers which I did last week. This has upped the level of awesomeness again. If you get the LG SK9Y, get the LG ELECTRONICS - LCD TV 2.0 CH WIRELESS REAR SPEAKER KIT for about £139 to complete this fantastic system.
