Please, black walnuts are very good and rare. I use it for cooking, baking, and snacks. They are very fresh and has that authentic smell.

I am a health "nut"! Good health in retirement is my highest priority. Black walnuts contain three main components that make them beneficial when consumed – antioxidants, polyunsaturated fats, and phenolic compounds. The walnuts also contain a range of other nutrients that includes fiber, protein, melatonin, and folate, which is a type of B vitamin. So I highly recommend eating black walnuts for this reason.However, I will say that they have an odd flavor, but it is not bad. I crush them and add them to kombucha, in order to remove anti-nutrients. I do the same thing with chia seeds and other nut flours (as part of a Keto diet) If you are overweight, do some research (podcasts etc.) about insulin resistance, intermittent fasting, exercise program and Keto diet; don't rely on drugs to manage your problem--take the initiative. I read a lot of the reviews, good & bad, before I ordered these black walnuts. I guess I hoped that I would be a lucky one and get some nuts that were fresh. Well I wasn't lucky, the bag I received expires in two months and even so it would appear they were not stored to maintain flavor if they were fresh to begin as they have a very oily off taste like old nuts. Instead of just throwing them out, Like I should have done, I decided to use them in my chocolate chip cookie recipe that originally was formulated around using black walnuts. I addes 100 grams of these nuts, which is about 1/3 to fresh English walnuts. Instead of enhancing the flavor these black walnuts gave the cookies a very off taste. The flavor was actually so bad my wife commented that there was something really wrong with my cookies. I fessed up and told her I'd put in some black walnuts purchased from Amazon and she said these sure don't taste like any black walnuts you ever used before. I said, in the past I used black walnuts that were fresh off the trees, but that was when I had a friend that had a lot of black Walnut trees. I guess it could've been worse. I could've purchased two bags instead of one and I could've been making cookies for a special occasion and not just to try these nuts. I do not know if it is due to Amazon receiving large quantities of nuts and storing them in the heat or if the seller is simply dumping old nuts. For whatever reason I will not be purchasing these nuts again and certainly cannot recommend them.

Like the taste. Different from regular walnuts. Only problem is that the bags seal ripped away from the bag. I have to place the bag in a zip lock bag to maintain freshness.

Very good nuts, strong flavor that we like.
