A simple, good solution to keep the ants from invading my hummingbird feeder. I think it’s a little expensive but that didn’t keep me from purchasing this again this year for another feeder. This product is well made and should last many years although you will have to replace the gel that deters the ants. One pack is included and I had enough to reuse this year.

I have used water moats, soapy water moats, vegetable oil moats and they all had issues. Evaporation mostly; but with the oil rain was the killer -- it filled the moat & made the oil overflow & coat everything beneath it. I started trying to figure a way to rig a permanent propane flame between the sheep crook and the hummer feeder so that I wouldn't have to add an umbrella over my ant moat over my hummingbird feeder -- which is, by this time, either hanging from a 20 foot pole or dragging its feet on the ground.Then I found BugSnubs. They seemed less dramatic -- and flammable -- than propane, & looked like a sensible alternative.I have small feeders because I have few birds & multiple feeders keep them hanging around without wasting nectar. More feeders, though, mean more maintenance. Add in watery ant moats and it's a full time job.I set up the original BugSnubs 3 years ago, applied the goo and haven't had to think about them since. No insects at all, but for the odd tiny, wind born spider. I have NOT had to reapply the goo -- so that's three years of perfect functionality. The hummers don't come anywhere near the goo, so I have no issues with the chemical composition is. Of course I wish they were a bit less pricey ... but after three seconds I just bought another one ... because they work and I don't have to.

I had recently bought a hummingbird feeder and discovered within a day or so of installing it a trail of ants climbing the shepherd’s hook to access it. They are small enough to get inside the openings where the birds drink, and had taken over the feeder. I made a barrier of petroleum jelly about halfway down the hook, but it quickly melted in the sun and heat, and the ants went right past it. I didn’t really want to add a bulky, unsightly ant moat, so I was excited to see this ant guard that had such amazing reviews! I ordered one and it was delivered the next day. I followed the simple directions, hung it up, and watched in delight as the ants crawled all over the top of the guard, but did not attempt to cross the gel underneath. The next day I saw not one single ant anywhere on the feeder, the guard, or the shepherd’s hook. Yay!! Thank you to the makers of this item for providing the perfect solution to my ant problem. Now I can enjoy the hummingbirds enjoying the feeder unimpeded. I highly recommend this product!

THESE WORK. In northern NM the hummingbird’s visitation is 04-15 thru 09-15. I apply the gel onto the hook only once and only at the beginning of the season. Without the hook&gel, the syrup inside the feeder is solid black with alive and dead ant bodies. Simple. Easy. Effective.

I can always count on this Bugsnub product to keep ants out of my Hummingbird feeders. I have just purchased my 3rd one. They hold up to the rainy weather as well.

I absolutely love this product!! The gel stuff actually works. Definitely need to buy more. Those ants where driving me crazy. Now I can be at peace knowing the ants won't go near now 😌 🙏🏻 🙌
