Great entertainment
We get the game few days ago and my son absolutely love it. We enjoy the treasure hunt and also just play with the treasure chest.

Broke with first use
My grandson called and told me the plastic key that opens the box broke with the first use. I contacted the company by email 3 days ago and still no response. Don't buy. Company not reliable.

So easy to set up
Game is super easy to set up as my kids love a scavenger hunt and I was struggling to come up with clues on my own. Perfect for my 4 and 6 year old. Only three starts because the chest is super hard to open, you have to have all the pieces aligned perfectly, my kids can’t do it on their own. The key broke in the first use. Will still keep and use due to the cards being easy to use.

Neat theming for a simple DIY game - BUT MAKE SURE YOU KNOW HOW IT WORKS
Ok, I've edited this review a couple times - increasing its rating each time - as I've figured some things out. I almost feel silly about initially having trouble with it. Almost. But the fact is, the instructions are lacking and I think many people could have similar trouble with it and some might well break it if they don't figure it out quick enough. My initial difficulty had to do with the latching mechanism on the chest. The instructions for operating the lock warn not to force it, and note that if it resists opening you should simply reseat the keys. I was finding that I could try over and over to reseat the keys with a very low success rate getting it to open.Eventually I started getting it to open consistently, but even then at first I couldn't tell what I was doing differently. At last I figured it out, and the key thing I think you need to know is this: The entire skull is part of the lid, even though it looks like most of the face is not. (There's even a crack along the skull that you might think is where it separates - nope, just decorative.) So I'd been trying to open the lid with one hand while holding the key with the other hand - but that meant the hand holding the key was also holding the lid shut.So basically the instructions give you just enough information to convince yourself that you're having trouble with the latch being stubborn, when in fact you're just fighting against yourself. Like I said, it's almost enough to make me feel a little silly.Anyway...The game itself does not, strictly speaking, require a commercially-manufactured set. My daughter and her cousins made up similar games for themselves when they were little. But, this provides some cool theming, a stock of pre-written clues/answers, and maybe some inspiration and structure. Given a good place to play (and maybe a little creativity to write some custom clues), it could be great fun.The clue cards are geared towards young children. There are a couple clues for any given location, with sometimes one being a bit more of a riddle than the other, but certainly nothing difficult to figure out. There are blank cards, so you can use locations they didn't include and/or customize the difficulty a bit if you're good at that sort of thing.Theming-wise even the lock is pretty cool. It looks like a skull and crossbones with gems for eyes; you remove the gems, one of the bones, and the jaw, and those are keys that you hide. It could really capture a kid's imagination and feel like quite an adventure. Then there's a 5th, final key with a handle looks like a smaller skull with something - maybe a squid - curled around the shaft of the key. You stick that in the nose socket of the lock once the other keys are inserted, turn counter-clockwise, and then lift the lid with the key while holding the base of the chest down with your other hand. The set comes with a couple bags of plastic gems to put in the chest as a prize, or of course you could substitute whatever you want. Now that I know how to operate it consistently, I'd say its a nice set of props for a game you might already play. Whether the cost is worth it, or whether the spirit of the game is better served by sticking with improvised equipment, is ultimately a matter of personal preference.

Super Fun Game, Tons of Pieces to Keep Track Of
My kindergartener absolutely loves this game. How we played this is that I set up the treasure hunt (hint: work backward!) and then helped him to read the clues to find the pieces and ultimately open the treasure box. He really loves the included plastic gems! In order to open the chest, you need five different little plastic pieces. It won't work without all of them - so don't lose any! It can be a little finicky to open but overall we really loved this game.
