I wish I can edit the background.
The format for the background is not very common. It is very difficult to create your own backgrounds.

Neat idea, but
there is one problem. The output is RCA. I didn’t realize this, but the new(er) tv is not compatible. Something to think about.Otherwise, neat idea. RCA to HDMI converters are about 8 bucks.Microphone feels solid. Cable is good. They include a book for all the song cards, but you have to put them in the plastic sleeves. Plan on that taking an afternoon. There are a ton of cards.

Great interactive fun!
We love this compact bundle of portable fun. Great sound quality, great quality overall so definitely for adults to enjoy. The mic is full sized ans durable. Beautiful bound book with tons of songs plus the option to download additional songs of your preferred genre. Easy to connect to your laptop or audio system. Great value for adding entertainment to your church group or just to use at home.

needs display monitor and speakers...not a karaoke system...not many popular songs to choose from
I wouldn't describe this as a karaoke machine. It's a microphone and a plug-in machine that offers songs for karaoke but's that's just about it. The user has to supply a display screen as well as speakers for this to work. The manufacturer's really skimped on their "song book" as well. They were too cheap to create an actual book...they simply printed pages out and placed these pages in a plastic baggie. There were over two hundred individual paper pages that had to be placed into the plastic sheathed pages of the chintzy songbook that looked more like an inexpensive dollar store photo album. For the price of this "karaoke machine", you'd think the they'd at least have created a nice book with a hardcover and quality printed paper of the listed songs. Many of the available songs aren't what you usually find available on popular karaoke apps. Most are old and from lesser known artists and foreign artists. You'd think stars and well known hits would be here but many just aren't.The songs are not the original key or by the original artist ...just covers...which should have been made clear. Personally I don't really like to do karaoke when songs are not in the original key - it throws me off. And the microphone has the bad sound design. For this to be called "platinum" I have to say I'm extremely disappointed with the quality. Unfortunately this one is a hard pass!

Great concept, slightly antiquated
The general concept for this unit is great, plug-and-play on any TV for an on-the-go karaoke experience, however the execution is a little antiquated. Firstly, as far as performance, the unit itself does an alright job, providing a vast library from which to select music. Songs load reasonably well, but the graphics don't always align well. The mic sounds pretty decent, but there is only one.Where it falls short is the antiquated design, meaning it hooks up via RCA, which is fine, but limits some individuals that don't have the availability to convert to newer televisions. They didn't even bother to supply a converter. I wish they had beefed up the processing power a little and put a bit more quality control on the finalized GUI (graphical user interface, what you see on screen). Finally, only one mic, really...it gets you by, but significantly reduces the amount of fun at parties having to share a mic for duets. From what I can tell, all controls are via the remote and seem to function alright, but some on board controls would have been nice. Additionally, I think there is a way to record, but we are still in the testing phases and will update as we figure more things out. At this time, with the features that do work and portability/versatility of turning almost any TV into a karaoke machine, this is a solid 4 stars.

Actually kind of cool.
When you hook this to your flat screen TV, you may have to change "modes" on your TV to display the lo-res image this produces. I had about half the picture cut off before I figured this out. This comes loaded with LOTS of songs. A good portion of them are non-English speaking songs (which may or may not appeal to you). One of the places it seems to have a lot of songs from is the Philippines. But yes, it does have quite a bit of English songs, too. I found quite the folder full of "ABBA" songs and found myself singing my own terrible rendition of "The Name of the Game".There are some odd quirks, like the video it shows doesn't match what's playing, at all. But the lyrics match the song, so that's all good.Comes with a surprisingly good mic. It looks like an SM58 almost. But it's actually an XLR mic and they give you an XLR to 1/4" phono cable. Pretty decent cable, too. Only 1 mic, though, which is unfortunate. You'll have to seek out and add a 2nd to properly sing those ABBA duets, I'm afraid. My only complaints? 1, there's no HDMI output. This is probably the BIGGEST drawback. And 2, lacking a 2nd mic. But for what it is, it's actually pretty decent, and once you figure out how to navigate and search for songs you're after, it's kind of fun. They do have models that have 2 mics (as well as HDMI output, it seems), and they also sell wireless microphone kits, so that also might be a way to add a 2nd mic to this machine. I've definitely seen worse karaoke machines, I actually had fun with this and I think it's worth a try if you're in the market.

Clear sound
I got this to use for family game night and it works very well. We havent used it much for singing though, just to make sure whoever is in charge of whichever game can be heard. We did ymgo through the songs and found a few we liked and they sounded ok but not karaoke quality to us.
