The Book of Blast Off!: 15 Real-Life Space Missions
N**N
Rhyming story-style text about historical moments followed by related photos + facts
🌱Roll up Space enthusiasts, this early learner picture book is absolutely super! A 'Laika' dog-astronaut character guides the reader from page to page through the chronological history of some of the most exciting missions in international Space exploration, celebrating some of the jaw-dropping moments, the edge-of-the-seat near disasters and some new realisations about our Universe right up until the current Artemis NASA program that aims to put humans back on the Moon and beyond. Out in paperback for the first time, this rhyming text non-fiction picture book with super illustrations, also features a photo-based information section at the back. Not enough illustrated non-fiction Children's books feature IRL photos to provide that real world visual reference for readers. With some books, although I adore the artwork, I feel that children would retain the information better if there were a photographic glossary at the back or short reference guide with photos at the end. Anyway - good news is - this one has it! Hurrah! I enjoyed this fact-filled history lesson in Space exploration - a good one to add to my Space collection. #TheBookOfBlastOff

OK
I was so excited for this book, but the stories are super short and oversimplified to the point where the actual stories in the back of the book are far more interesting to read. It would have been better to just have the longer stories made kid friendly throughout the book than to take snippets.
