Oriental 18-FVC8X10-25 VC-FBII Variable Contrast Fiber Base 8x10 Fiber Base Glossy (25 Sheets) - Black & White

This is a fine black and white paper. I started moving to fiber based paper after getting bored of Resin Coated paper, and this was my frst choice. I really like this paper because it doesn't yellow like many other fiber based papers out there. This will dry pure white like RC paper, but have the longevity quality of Fiber base. The only gripe I have is that it's glossy, but if you dry this paper flat on a water color tablet for a few days, you'll get the look and feel of luster FYI.

Unfortunately, I lack the technical background to quantifiably explain what makes this paper superior to others so I will have to do my best with layman's parlance.I like to print my black and whites with a fairly high contrast filter. I like for my blacks to be deep and rich in order to draw out the detail in lighter areas. The images I shoot are usually through a red filter onto Ilford SFX 200, and this paper responds to that combination with exactly the aesthetic I desire. It's a little bit like classic horror movies.I am sure this paper is capable of far more than I draw out of it, so far it's gone with me just about anywhere I want to take it. Every image has a crispness which far surpasses anything I've gotten out of Ilford's VC papers, which I started out printing on.I'd encourage anyone to buy at least one pack of this stuff and see what it can do for you.

I bought two boxes of this paper and opened it in the dark room. The top few pieces were totally exposed when I printed and I pulled a few from the bottom and middle and every sheet that I used was exposed along the edges. I'm using this paper for a class, and can't complete my projects on it. As far as I'm concerned, it's ruined. Also, the paper came inside the cardboard packaging with no black, lightsafe bag. This is probably why its all exposed. Don't buy.

I prefer this paper to the Ilford equivalent. It was cheaper and the glossy is not too glossy. The paper can also be safely handled with safelights without any type of flashing. Bath times were also on the low end, which is preferably when printing large quantities. Overall I am very pleased with Oriental VC FB paper.

I have been working with analog photography for about a year. I started with Ilford, which was also a good paper but I prefer the Oriental. It can usually be found for a better price and I like the emulsion. Definetly would recommend to anyone looking for a good, more affordable, fiber-based paper!

Great fiber paper at a great price. Nice tonality, and really, really rich blacks. Not as contrasty (i.e. the whites aren't as "white") as the Ilford equivalent, but it has its own distinct look that is very excellent. I will be buying again.

One of the best photo papers for film printing, always has been. It shipped fast, price is fair and packaging is effective. I'd buy again.

This fiber paper gives you very rich beautiful blacks. It is also very affordable. It is my go to paper for fiber.
