Expendable but HIGHLY functional
The thing about this chromatic tuner/metronome/pitch reference, is that the thing is cheap. First of all it costs very little to buy. But that also means that the construction is not especially robust. The thing is very lightweight, and a couple of nasty falls could take it out. (Actually the first one I had fell a LOT, and kept on clicking for over two years). But ultimately, if it breaks, just buy a new one. Why would this be worth it? Supreme functionality.First it's a fully functional chromatic tuner, with 1/4" instrument input jack. Gotta have that feature. You can adjust the reference frequency, from 430Hz to 450Hz. (Does anyone use anything besides 440Hz?) Very clear readings for the tuner, with bright LED lights accompanying the tuner gauge. Here's my fav part: The metronome! Digitally adjustable from 30bpm to 250bpm. Built in speaker, WITH A VOLUME CONTROL, and a headphone jack. Volume is important feature. It will also subdivide for you at any tempo. You can have it play 1 on every beat, eighth note subdivide, eighth note triplets, eighth note triplets with the middle one omitted (for a swing feel), sixteenth notes, and sixteenth notes with the middle two omitted (for a horse trot feel or something). It sounds a slightly different tone on the beat than on the subdivisions. Additionally, it will give you a very strong downbeat at the beginning of each bar if you want. It's a higher pitched tone. You have the option of how many beats in the bar -- 0 (no downbeat, just constant) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9. You can pretty much get any combination for any type of feel you want to play with. Very useful. Then the pitch reference. It will play a pitch (volume controlled), any chromatic note, again adjustable reference from 430Hz to 450Hz. One little thing that other tuners have pissed me off, this one doesn't: This allows you to select you pitch in either direction from where you're at. If it's set to C# and I want it to play C, I can arrow down once. Others would make you arrow UP eleven times to get to that C.Good stuff. I just bought two actually, because they're so cheap I can afford to keep one at home, take one on the road. I do a lot of working with kids, so if I'm ever in a situation where there is a need to have a tuner, it's no problem for me to just leave this with them, and buy a new one. Thanks Shar for your cheap products! This is perfect for someone who is careful with their gear, doesn't want to pay a lot, and wants huge functionality. Not for someone who's going to get pissed when they drop their tuner and it starts acting funny. Doesn't break necessarily, just acts funny for awhile.

It is perfect!
This tuner is everything I expected. I am able to tune my violin, count beats when playing 4/4 notes. It is perfect!

flimsy
Flimsy. The on-off switch died after after a few months, and that was the end of it. You get what you pay for.

Great little tuner and metronome
This is a great little light weight device. It has lots of options and is easy to use both for tuning and keeping time.
