Effective, but it does take some strength to use...
2024-04-20. Coconut opener tool set by WILLBOND. Coconut hole tool. T-grip handle. Set of 4. Stainless steel. There's nothing better than the real thing. and if you've ever had fresh young coconut water straight from the coconut, you'll know what I'm talking about. The canned stuff and the waxed carton are just not the same. I'm also a fan of the coconut flesh if it's fresh and straight from the coconut. My dilemma is being able to get at the goods! I already own a coconut borer that creates a tiny hole, large enough to fit a drinking straw into, and I've been using that for years. But I was never able to get at the flesh. And if I'm being honest (full disclosure), I don't know how to use a machete (nor do I own one) like they do in the Caribbean.I ordered these from WILLBOND as they had a much bigger blade and I though I could use it to make several cuts to create an opening large enough for me to get a spoon in there at get at the fresh coconut flesh.I'm a petite person, and I didn't really have the strength to push this tool down hard enough to puncture the coconut shell, so I use a mallet to knock it down a bunch of times. I repeated this all the way around, then pulled it open like an attached lid.Pro tip: Drink all the coconut water first, or drain it into a cup before opening up the coconut to get at the flesh to avoid splattering of the coconut water.Overall the tool works, but you will get bits of the coconut shell falling into the coconut as you hack your way around to create the opening top. They're easily enough to pick out, so it's not really that big a deal. The tool is sturdy, strong enough to withstand me hammering the handle with a rubber mallet, and the blade is sharp enough to puncture the shell.

Sturdy
This set of tools to open a coconut makes it easier and less scary. I usually use a knife and hope that I don’t stab myself. With these tools, the handle makes it more sturdy. The metal part is sharp, so you still have to be careful.
