Kettle boiling water on gas hob

This item has just been unpacked washed and put on to boil.After 17 minutes my kitchen is all steamed up but the kettle has not whistled.

Does not whistle. Other than that, average but pretty.

This is a beautiful, well made and good quality kettle. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is that the whistle isn't very loud.
