Better Than a Cookbook
I adore Ruby Tandoh! I binged the Great British Bake Off and so wanted her to take the win of her Series. I bought her cookbook CRUMB and loved the way it was written. As soon as I saw the pre-order for Eat Up, I ordered it. It has recipes, but not like you'd expect. It is a book about food, our relationships with food, the history of food, and the politics of food. It is a book to make you think. And humanity needs to do more thinking!

Amazing Writing
Really amazing, wonderful writing. Queer and fat-positive. So refreshing for a food book - Ruby, please keep writing! Can’t wait to reread...

Opened my eyes!
This is a lovely book and it opened my eyes to the many myths about food and eating in general! Ruby Tandoh has an excellent grasp on so-called "wonder diets", etc., as well as myths about gluten, fat, etc. The book is an easy read because it feels like she is talking with you privately. I read the book over three days and have already cooked a few of the accompanying recipes (all delicious, by the way)! I have also bought both her cookbooks "Crumb" and "Flavor" and am cooking my way through them. Her curries are to die for!! Looking forward to her next cookbook!!!!

Loved it! Absolutely devoured it over the course of a weekend. Ruby's writing is so engaging that it reads effortlessly and more like a conversation. Ruby is spot on when she describes the anxiety around food these days, it really resonated with me in that sense. Great read, will be recommending it to everyone!

Amazing!
It’s impossible for me to write a review that will do this book justice but I will try. I loved this book. On one level it’s food politics, but not in an elitist condescending way, but in an eye-opening revolutionary kind of way. Topics run the gamut from food in prisons to people’s love of the Great British Bake Off. It’s also a great addition to any intuitive eating library. There’s a sensory indulgent aspect of this book great for anyone who wants to recapture a lost joy of cooking and eating. If you love food, want to love food, want to appreciate your beautiful hungry body, want to learn about many of the roles food plays in this world... or basically, if you’re a human who eats, I can’t recommend this book enough.

Refreshing
Ruby has such great tone in her writing and it's such a great book for a very noisy nutrition world. I've been slowly cooking my way through the included recipes and am finding such a joy in doing so - something about the recipes make it seem like they're my own family recipes.

Perfect antidote to clean eating nonsense!
I cannot explain how much this book has spoke to my heart! In a world that’s obsessed with fad eating and calorie counting it’s so refreshing to fall back in love with food!

Gobble it up!
10/10 : Despite being an avid reader, it’s not often I buy a physical copy of a book - I’d be in debt by now if I did! After seeing reviews of this book, however, I just knew that it would be a book I’d like to keep forever, so I bought it. Fortunately, I wasn’t wrong. This book is as delicious as your absolute favourite meal, the sweetest most decadent of treats, the sharpness & blissful crunch of a Pink Lady apple. @ruby.tandoh writes exquisitely, with well researched insight & understanding of not just food, but our all important relationship with it, the politics, culture & rhetoric surrounding it. Throw away the pervasive guilt and EAT WHAT YOU WANT. I could probably wax lyrical about this book all day long, instead I’ll finish with this: food is what fuels us, what makes us, its intrinsically entwined with our memories, & as long as we treat our bodies with respect, nourish & love them, the guilt enshrouding what we eat can JOG ON! Ruby, thank you for so eloquently writing this book, it’s a riotous feast!

Banish all the guilt associated with eating and enjoy food for what it is
Banish all the guilt associated with eating and enjoy food for what it is, in whatever form. Reading this made me hungry, not because it contains lots of recipes, but I can feel Ruby's passion for food and eating through the pages.

Food Culture Explored
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book but decided to take a chance on it after reading some great reviews. It’s hard to categorise this book as Ruby discusses a wide variety of societal problems, linking them all via food culture. The writing is beautiful and I’d definitely encourage you to read it.

Self Indulgent Ramble
Having a tricky relationship with food, I decided to buy this. Half way through I started to speed read it, as to be frank, I hadn't a clue what Ruby was on about half the time, most of the time actually. I found it a rather self indulgent blurb and eventually couldn't be bothered to even finish it.
