my only criticism is I thought the book would have had more pages but the contents are superb with fantastic large well detailed photo's of early Tiger tanks in North Africa and then on to Russia. I would recommend anyone interested in Tiger tanks to get this volume as well as the following 2 volumes in this series of books.

Hmmm, difficult this one. How useful the book is will largely depend on how many of the photo's you already have. Most are in either Schneider's Tigers in Combat book or the Trojca Tiger books. Having said that the photo's are very clearly produced, better than the (original hardback) Schneider book and many are produced full page. Captions could have had a bit more detail as has been mentioned. Highly recommended if you don't have either the Schneider or Trojca book, only a few unseen photo's if you have.

This is a great book.I already own quite a few books to do with German Tanks, and especially ones covering the Tiger.It was a pleasant surprize to find that this one contained new information and pictures to do with the Tiger.Text is in both English and German - that goes for the picture explanations too.I look forward to Vol 2 - especially if this one is anything to go by.

im a huge fan of the tiger tank my fascination for the tiger goes back over 40 yrs i now have 37 books dealing with this vehicle and i was very impressed with this book as it is a pictorial history of the 501st battalion there are plenty of references for modellers and for people who have an interest in german armour.highly recommended

Well illustrated well captioned and in a format which which works well. Quality of bult is excellent and IMO good value for money.Photos are well reproduced , many are new to me which was refreshng not the same old same old being trotted out without much though or effort.A good book.

A very good start to a 10 book series , very well selected photographs reproduced clearly , a good collection of new and rare photos , the text is short and to the point . A fresh new approach to the history of the Tiger tank . Good value and recommended .

The story of Schwere Abteilung 501 from the issue of their first Tigers to the bitter end with the Tiger 2. The contemporary photos are excellent and i'm sure they will inspire many a diorama.
