The Brera Gallery: The Official Guide (Heritage Guides)

One of my favourite museum visits ever - a captivating look at some of the breathtaking artwork I've ever seen. I just had to get the guide!

More than just a keepsake, this volume is a detailed room-by-room guide to the key paintings in this most important Milanese picture collection which includes works by Mantegna, among them a foreshortened Christ, Piero della Francesca and Raphael. The full color reproductions of each work like the font size used for the extensive accompanying text entries are relatively small on the one hand allowing much of the collection to be represented and on the other requiring reading glasses for those who use them while the weight of the coated paper stock is sufficient to give one pause if considering carrying the volume around Milan all day. Nonetheless, the writing features many useful details about the works, including placing individual paintings within an artist's oeuvre and discussing issues of provenance. The book includes an artist index, but refers those looking for a full bibliography to the Italian original.

Il libro è arrivato prima del previsto. E 'molto completo (più di quello che ho comprato nella Pinacoteca di Brera - Ed. Skira). Le foto sono ovviamente un po 'piccola. Sono molto felice di questo acquisto.
