Exact match to original DVD drive
Fired up the Nintendo Wii for the kiddos after 5 yrs sitting collecting dust. Kids now old enough to start playing and build those finger callouses 😆. Unfortunately the games wouldn’t load and the DVD drive made some new grinding noises I haven’t heard before. Disc also slow to eject. Watched YouTube on how to replace the dvd drive. You need tri-wing and Phillips screwdrivers to split the Wii case apart. Take your time and take photos as you remove the screws out so they go back in the same. The new drive fired right up and works good as new 💿.

Easy installation
Aside from having 5 or 6 different screw types, as long as you have good screw management capabilities, this is an easy installation to extend the life of your Wii.

Broke within 4 months
This worked great when we first received it and put it in, but now it is only been 4 months and it no longer works. Disc Read error has returned and we are going to need to buy another one. Do not buy this ine. buy from someone else.

Great replacement but didn't read SSBB
This is great replacement for a broken wii drive. My wii from 2007 started emitted a horrible grinding noise from the drive a while back, and I finally decided to open the thing up and try the fix it myself. While I solved the loud drive noise by tweaking a metal piece on the drive, I then encountered disc drive errors on just about every game from then on. With this drive, everything ran perfectly fine with the exception of super smash bros brawl (I believe this has something to do with the fact the SSBB is one of the few games that have a dual layer format). At first, the disc wasn't even recognized at all, and when it did work, the disc error returned after about 5 minutes. I have to assume that these drives are not brand new, because of this issue and there is also sometimes a grinding noise emitted from the drive, but nowhere near as bad as my original one was. Overall, this is a great replacement unless you want to play Brawl. Installation is very simple once you open the outer casing with those annoying triwing screws.

The drive worked fine for a while.
I had no issues installing the replacement drive and it worked fine. Fast forward to yesterday and we starting playing wii sports and it worked fine. Went to swap disks and now it spits out all disks, just like the original drive was doing. It was hardly used since I installed the drive in May, come August and I am back to where I was. Contemplating chucking the system.

Worked like a charm!
This worked like a charm! And I can confirm: it *does* play GameCube games. It was a slightly different model than the one that originally came with my Wii; but that doesn't seem to have actually changed anything about the operation.A lot cheaper than buying a whole new Wii!
