The idea of these spatula tongs looked great but I have trouble using them. I have arthritis and just the way you have to press down the tongs while using the spatula doesn't work. It is uncomfortable for me to use. I could use it with both hands, but that is awkward and defeats the purpose of combining two items into one tool. These look decent and seem well-made. The mechanics are wrong for me.

While this is an item that isn't for every cooking job, the ones it does help out with it does so fairly well. I tested this on probably one of the hardest foods to flip gently while cooking, eggs, and was surprised by the results. The technique involved while using these tongs appears to be to not put the spatula end fully underneath the egg, but rather just grab the edge with the tong portion. From there it is incredibly easy to pull the egg white and flip it over gently without breaking the yolk. What a game changer!This product is made of the typical heat resistant plastic found in most plastic cookware. It holds up well being in contact with a hot pan without melting. The tong portion appears to be designed well and does not require a lot of pressure to close. It is a little set back from the spatula portion however, about a quarter of an inch, so does require getting some of the spatula below the food before being able to clasp down. There is also a plastic reinforcement towards the joint end which helps prevent too much strain. Overall, the design here is well executed and feels like it will hold up well.There are some things where I can see this product being more impractical, such as pancakes or burgers. With pancakes there will still be an uncooked end which will get all over the tong portion and might not be as easy to work with as just flipping normally as the tong portion would need to be cleared from contact during the flipping motion. And with burgers the raw end may touch the top portion which could be a concern if not heating enough during the cooking process to remove that concern. Essentially imagine cooking burgers with tongs where one end might not always be touching the cooked end to get sanitized. I would think this product could still be useable in these scenarios however, but could introduce challenges or required techniques not present on a regular flip spatula. That said, I imagine there are plenty of other foods where this product comes in very handy. I am happy to have it as part of my cooking toolset.
