The description in this listing is for a different, more complicated light. This light is actually very simple. Plug it into the cigarette lighter and it flashes. Pull it out and it stops. There are no switches and no different modes, and the cord is only about 5 feet. But for its modest cost, it is a very good light for occasional use in emergencies. If I had to change a flat tire on the roadside at night, this light would be a huge increase in visibility and safety.This is not really designed to be a Kojak-style light, flashing on top of a car at high speed. The magnetic base is adequate to hold the light on a metal surface at moderate speeds, although it is prone to slide along the surface. Its best uses would be for a roadside emergency, a wreck, or a piece of slow-moving equipment such as a mower or snowplow.Users should be aware that some states ban the use of certain colored Kojak-style lights on civilian vehicles. Most states ban blue, and some may still ban red.

I would avoid this product for a number of reasons. First, the cord is way too short. They claim 16-feet but that could only be if you stretched all the coils out straight. There isn't enough cord to plug it in and to place the light on top of one's vehicle without the cord being in the way of your steering wheel.Second, the build is very week. The light and cord leave something to be desired. They don't appear sturdy enough to be effectively relied upon.Third, the light itself is relatively dim. In the daylight you have to look close to see that it is even on.I do not recommend this product except for maybe a toy car.

The media could not be loaded.  The unit has a nice flash pattern but the design of it doesn’t get much of the light out where it’s needed. The led’s are set on a flat piece that’s below the level of the lens, so most of the light is directed through the top and not out to the sides where it’s needed. The lens looks like it’s designed for a bulb up in the center like the old lighthouse’s were done. There’s pretty good light intensity at about a 45° angle up, but not at a level with the light. Needs the leds up in the lens and pointing out, or a reflector like a cone shaped mirror to direct it out the side. The way this is made the light would not be outstanding in the sunlight, and barely noticeable during other conditions.Looking at the inside it seems like the circuit board doesn’t even fit correctly on the base - the mounting holes don’t line up.

The light I received does not match the description in the product description. It has only one light level, not multiple, and there is not a switch to turn off and on or cycle through light levels. It is simple to use. Plug into lighter socket and it turns on, pull out of lighter socket and it turns off. It does have a magnet base and can be placed securely on a metal surface. I ordered this to have in case of an emergency and it performs in that capacity just as I want. In that area I am very satisfied. But, it seems the company should be careful with regards to advertising things the light does not do.

Nice bright strobe. Got the blue one, and it really grabs your attention. Has a repeated quick flash of 5 pulses I'd say, pauses a second, then repeats. Hard to miss. Would be good for any safety alert.Only downsides are the cord seems kinda short, maybe 6' if you stretch it waaay out, but that puts a lot of tension on the light and might pull it off. I'd say it would work best within 3 or 4 feet of an outlet. THat's because the magnetic base isn't the strongest, either, so it tends to slide if you tug on the cord. Otherwise, it seems sealed up nicely and works fine.
