Great book for anyone wanting to understand how to keep your non-profit in good status
This is a very detailed book and it has everything you need to know about your non-profit and how to keep it under the radar at the IRS. Keep it current and keep your status. This has great tips and explains all that is needed. It's a thick book and organized nicely by chapters. I definitely would recommend this to anyone who has questions on non-profits.

comprehensive info on IRS rules for existing nonprofits
This guide gives very detailed and comprehensive information about IRS rules for tax-exempt nonprofits. There is a category of nonprofits that are not tax exempt, and those are not covered. This book does not tell you how to establish a nonprofit; they have a separate NOLO guide for that.

Resourceful Publication for Nonprofits
OK, so of course, it's not every day that a person wakes up looking to start a non-profit organization. But, when I saw this book, I said, "this will make a nice Christmas gift for friends" because I've got associates that are in the process of setting up a nonprofit organization.Yup, it's that time of year again, trying to find the perfect gift and I think this one is it.It's just right; not packed with too much information but just enough to help you navigate the system to understand the necessary components of what is needed to get started and stay within the confines of doing things the right way.I'm eye-balling Chapter Five as a nice place to start because as an LLC, its helpful to understand which tax exemptions are allowable etc. so, I'm already noticing that this book can also come in handy for me. Based on what I'm reading so far, this chapter can be quite beneficial for donors too. This book appears to be well researched and the author has a good command of the subject. He also includes a list of IRS publications, websites and other resources that can assist the reader beyond what's written in this publication.Overall, this book is a good resource.

Wealth of Knowledge for Small Businesses - Every Nonprofit's Tax Guide is a Must-Have!
As a small business owner navigating the intricacies of tax regulations, "Every Nonprofit's Tax Guide" has been an absolute godsend. I have purchased three of these NOLO guides, and they have all been impressive. Despite the title, this book is an invaluable resource for anyone running a tax-exempt organization, including small businesses aiming to keep their tax-exempt status intact. The most impressive part of this guide is its remarkable clarity and practicality. The authors have a knack for translating complex tax laws into accessible language, making it comprehensible for someone like me who doesn't have a background in finance or law. The step-by-step explanations are accompanied by real-world examples, turning what could be a daunting topic into a manageable and, dare I say, interesting read. The guide covers everything from the basics of tax-exempt status to the intricacies of IRS compliance. I particularly appreciated the tips on avoiding common pitfalls and potential IRS headaches. It's evident that the authors have a deep understanding of the challenges small businesses and nonprofits face, and they've crafted a guide that serves as a proactive shield against potential tax-related issues. The sample forms, checklists, and practical advice provided have been instrumental in helping me ensure that my small business stays on the right side of the IRS. It's like having a knowledgeable mentor by your side, guiding you through the labyrinth of tax regulations with expertise and a friendly tone.Whether you're a nonprofit or a small business owner, "Every Nonprofit's Tax Guide" is a must-have on your bookshelf. It's more than just a guide; it's a strategic tool that empowers you to take control of your organization's financial health. I wholeheartedly give it a five-star rating and recommend it to every small business owner looking to navigate the tax landscape with confidence.

Placing the Cart Before the Horse
Disclaimer: I received this item for free from the Vine program. I didn't get paid for the review and, in fact, I Pay 45% in Federal and State Income Taxes for each item. I apologize for not including pictures, but I have a genetic trait that causes my hands to shake. It's become a shameful secret of people moving and leaving behind their beloved pet, the one their little daughter snuggles with at bedtime, the one who looks at these people as their family, the ones that will provide the love and care in their forever home. One morning, there's a bunch of activity in the house, with people moving things from the house to a moving truck, with the little kitty hiding outside in the bushes. Nightfall comes, and everything is quiet around the house, as the little kitty comes out of her hiding place and goes to the front door, and meows to be let in. Today, no one is there to let her in, no little girl to feed her.In the rural area where I live, there is a need for additional non-profits to help care for these abandoned cats. I want to know what is considered donations as dedicated people use their own money to feed and alter these cats. Maybe we can create a non-profit coop.I've read other NOLO tax guidebooks and I find the Every Nonprofit's Tax Guide just as organized, detailed, and complete to answer our questions of whether we can fund our tax-exempt organization. No use filing for our 501C if we don't have the necessary tax-free donations and the ability to deduct direct expenses for our non-profit.
