I haven't heard that collagen can be absorbed through the skin as the molecules are too big so this really just acts as a humectant. However it does work well to moisturize on the surface. It may depend on what toner you use but the one I used did dissolve the sheet but it felt a little sticky. Not a huge deal for me because I put lotion on top but it. But it definitely feels like a layer.
