Nice latch

I have an older boat (2007) and could not find an exact match for a replacement latch. I bought this, knowing I would have to modify the locking arm. Installation was easy (5 minutes) and it looks great. Being stainless, it should handle the saltwater well but only time can answer that question.

The media could not be loaded. With so many latches being offered, most appearing from a few manufactures and negative reviews bringing up the same issues, I took my time choosing and made a video of what I ended up with. I noticed missing latch plates, missing hardware and sub standard component reviews among all of the designs. The most serious, common and puzzling complaint was a reverse compression movement of the latch as it approached the closed position. I made a video showing the latch’s action explaining what happens, why it’s a non-issue and the proper way to insure your hatch seals with this type of latch.

Wish surface diameter was smaller as it does not fit my recessed space. Needed 2-2.23

I used them to install on deck on fish well hatches. The 2 inch hatch door holes left after taking out the old plastic topped latches needed to be reamed about 1/32nd" to fit the new latches flat in the recessed deck holes. I'm very pleased with the product. It was a bear trying to adjust the cam on these into the horizontal slit on the inside of the fish well, but that was me, nothing to do with the product. You just need a lot of trial and error patience for the adjustment phase. I've decided to ream out the receiving slits a little bigger and would recommend this to anyone if needed for ease of installation.

After maybe 10 twists of the handle the spring which holds the twist handle in place is no longer working, which makes for a floppy handle that does not locked.
