5 Stars if/when my unit is replaced/refunded. Very bummed because it looked like a solid unit but after one use the L.E.D. lights for the solder iron isn't lighting up correctly so now I can't tell what temp the unit is at. This scares me and makes me wonder how long the unit will last.... Maybe I got a lemon. I will write a better review later, when I have time. I hope this gets sorted out.-UPDATE- I gave it 1 star above, I received a new unit but business is slow and I haven't used the new one much but so far so good. I'm changing to 4 star because of the good customer service. I will move it to the appropriate rating once I start using it again.

What can I say; this thing really blows,....hot air. I received the first unit and had issues with the soldering iron not wanting to work very well. The replacement amazon sent worked flawlessly. The machine comes with heating elements for both the solder iron and hot air. I suspect the heating element was defective on the iron of the first unit but since I had just received it I figured it wasn’t my place to fix it for them and exchanged for a new unit. I have used the unit quite a bit and it has worked great. I, personally, am not a fan of the built in fume extractor and plan on removing it from the handle. I have made a dedicated fume extractor and prefer not having the extra bulk on the handle.

For the price, you can't beat this unit. It is really solid and if the vaccum pump seems to fail, just clean the filter. The kit comes with almost everything you need to get started. I would recommend this, some no-clean kester flux pens, and a really sharp chisel tip. If you use the hot air pencil, just keep the air to a minimum with small parts lest they blow around, especially when using solder paste (you'll get some drift). The tweezers are great for small smt parts. Keep the tips clean and dont buy cheap solder. I use the kester because it doesn't have the pasty resin core. It is ok to have flux core solder but the sticky stuff is bad news and hard to clean. Buy this with a toothbrush and 99% rubbing alcohol to cleanup. The unit will last for years if you keep the tips tinned and avoid the gunky flux.

Original purchase - unit delivered had power switch on back of unit, unlike that shown in current manual and in photos on Amazon web site. Amazon product support was very helpful and shipped a replacement overnight; Saturday delivery. Unfortunately, as I had mentioned by phone, this unit is of the same "batch", with a manufacturing date of November 2017 - VERY OLD STOCK with the same problem as the original unit: the power switch is on the rear panel and not on the lower right front panel as shown in the current manual and in the Amazon Website ads and photos of this particular model. This makes it very difficult to turn the unit on or off when used in a normal manner on a test and repair bench where such test equipment items are often stacked. Additionally, it presents a safety concern/hazard should the need arise to quickly turn power to the unit off.Again, based upon the manufacturing date stamp on these units, although "new", they were manufactured a year and 3 months ago... very possibly the reason these lack what would be expected product improvements as shown in the manual and in current photos generally online and in the Amazon website.I trust you will be in contact with me to arrange return of this latest unit as well.

Received a first unit DOA and was quickly replaced by Amazon. Fairly good product and holds temperature properly. The bracket design for the hot air tool is not very good as it has the tendency to eject the tool if not fully pushed in. The hot air tool slid down slightly and partially melted the bracket after a few days of use. The iron is capable of using Hakko tips but the element cover is tight on some of the tips due to the venting holes being punched in. Using a drill to de-burr the element cover resolved the issue. Other than these issue, this is a very good product for the price.

I have been wanting to replace a couple of different solding irons and tools and this did the job right out of the box. I was not aware they made smoke vacuums but after seeing it I had to have and glad I did. It takes all the smoke out and takes away the one bad part of soldering. Come very complete with all the parts needed and reacts to adjustments very quickly. I have a couple of projects that will be putting it to work I will report back if there are any future problems.+1yr later - still working strong and had very few issues with it. It gets hot fast enough to be easy and the smoke vac takes away one less problem(fumes) very well. My only real complaint is that the tweezers could be better and work better.

This solder station is real quality, it has the soldering iron with half dozen different size tips, it has a soldering tweezer for soldering the small caps, and resistors by holding them to the spot and heating the whole piece from two sides, it also has a heat blower with several different size nozzles, and the soldering iron has a vacuum nozzle over the end to trap the fumes it is pretty slick. Can do just about any repair or build any kit.

The soldering tips they send are absolute garbage. The heating element itself gets very hot. But the tip doesn't. This is supposed to be capable of SMD removal. But the tip can never get hot enough to remove SMDs. Because the board soaks up the heat. Why does this happen? It's because it uses very inferior tips that don't get anywhere near as hot as the advertised/displayed temperature. I ended up having to use the top part of the tip near the metal bracket holding it in place, in order to get enough heat to melt solder on a PCB board.This would be ok if it was a $50 soldering station. But I paid $280 for it. And it's absolute garbage. Thought maybe the problem was a bad element. So I swapped it with the replacement element that comes with the kit. Also tried one of the other tips that come with the package. Still nothing. Absolute garbage.The SMD removal tweezers are also crap. They suffer from the same problem of not getting hot enough because the tips are garbage. And they also don't align well. So it becomes very very hard to actually grab an SMD and lift it up even if you somehow magically were able to get it hot enough to melt the solder, which it absolutely cannot do.Very disappointed. The only useful part of the kit is the hot air gun. I'm surprised at the number of people who've given it a good review. Clearly no one is doing any serious soldering with it. Highly recommend to skip this garbage and buy a proper iron from a reputable brand as I'm about to do now.

The hot air is fine, the suction nozzle is good, but the soldering iron is complete garbage.I've been soldering for quite some time and have used all sorts of cheap irons that out perform this one. I changed the tip on this iron to see if I could get better performance out if it. It made a big difference but still left alot to be desired.

Get to temp very fast. Air pump little noisy but gets lot worse when air gun on support. Chassis is noisy!

Received the goods fast. Very satisfied with this product. Works very well.
