I do not understand why this toy only has 3 1/2 stars, it is hands down the BEST toy I have ever purchased for my cats!!!! Endless fun. My cat jumps 5 feet in the air for this thing! The feathers on the end spin, mimicking a real bird. It's AWESOME!!!!!! My cat has loads of CAT MOJO with this toy!!!!!! And the sound of it opening up triggers 'it's playtime'. THE BEST!!!!!!

Like many other reviewers, the wand broke after only a few days of play. First it came out of the holder, then each section fell out one at a time (I found small inner pieces of metal all over my floor). Secondly, the feathers are okay and my cat likes them, but he chewed through parts of them in the first week. Lastly, the string is so thin it wraps around the feathers which shortens the line quickly, so I spend a lot of time untangling the feather from the string. The one thing that works okay is the retractable string, but that's not really even needed for the toy. In conclusion, while I like Jackson Galaxy, the toy is not well made. It's cute but overpriced for the issues.

This item arrived damaged. The string was already frayed at the top. It would take my cats one second to chew through this. I opted to return the item instead of replacing it because the string itself is just too thin (Even if it wasn't damaged) and the functionality of this product did not work as I expected. I thought it would cast out more like a fishing rod but its just like a standard wand toy with an extension arm. I'm going to keep looking.

My cats loved this toy but the string is so thin. My cats chewed thru it in literally five seconds. I tried to tie it back together which worked for awhile before he chewed thru it again. Needs much strong string….this is more like thread.

I have to say this is by far the best toy for my cats. It keeps them interested for long time. Not sure how it will hold up but definitely recommend it.

I would probably give this one closer to 3.5 stars, but I did round up for the sake of Jackson Galaxy. This review can be summed up with 3 points:1. It seems very high quality compared to other wands, though it is about double the price. I love the feel of the material, and it feels very nice. The fact that the rod itself is retractable, and so is the cord, is very nice. The fact that the nose or tip of the JG portion of the wand is the retracting button is cute, and well thought out.2. It's so heavy... compared to some other wands I have, the fact that it is made a with a bit higher grade material, it is also pretty heavy. I find this makes playing and maneuverability a little harder, and I can't 'fling' the feather or other item attached to the end of the string as easily. It seems to create a pendulum affect more so. Due to the heaviness, I hope the durability keeps up and doesn't put too much pressure on the retractable rod. It definitely bends downwards when fully pulled out.3. The feather toy included quickly rips apart. This is my first feather toy, so maybe that's just what happens to all of them. It is easily replaceable with another toy to put on the cord with a metal clip, so not a huge issue. The metal clip is very tight, so it takes some dexterity to unclamp and replace the toy. As long as the rod and cord hold up, it should be great, though.Overall, I feel it was a good purchase, and I'm glad I have it. We'll see how it holds up over time. Hopefully the better materials will give it more longevity than some of the cheaper ones. Probably wouldn't buy a second one, but maybe that's the point.

Got this for my cat who is picky about which wand toys I buy. He usually is interested for less than a minute before he gives up and bullies my other cat instead. So I was pleasantly surprised when he went absolutely FERAL for this wand toy. The wand and string are really long which allows you to whip this thing around the room. He jumped, ran, and FLIPPED until he caught the feather, then proceeded to proudy trot away with his prize. I repeated a few times and he finally got wore down and left my other cat alone. Make sure to put it away when your done so they don't get bored of it!! Thanks Jackson Galaxy!!!!

My cats LOVE this toy. Even the lazy one will get active for this toy. Much sturdier than other wand toys that I’ve bought in the past.
