We selected this foam due to its heat resistance, durability and ability to form tight details. We've found it to be the best foam for the money and it is suitable for the hobbyist and small production shop alike. Sold in a set (2 pieces per set)

So let me clear the air. There are a few reviews on here that state that the foam is "too stiff" or "way too dense", here's the thing. Yes, the foam feels quite stiff to the touch and I had my doubt's at first but I went ahead an pressed a holster and it came out with as much definition as any other holster made from a different foam that I've made. The foam feels stiff but under the pressures that it's put under, it still gives and it gives quite well. Oh, and this foam is actually 1 inch as advertised, unlike some other pieces that are only 4/5 of an inch. So 4 stars, only because I don't quite know the life span of this foam because it is still fairly new to me, but so far it's done 5 holsters flawlessly.

A poor substitute for actual kydex pressing foam.
The sellers description is wrong. This is NOT high temperature foam! After ordering kydex foam from Knifekits.com and using it to make a hybrid holser (kydex on leather) I decided to make a holster for my son that was kydex front and back. I didn't want to spend another 9 days getting it from Knifekits so I ordered this off Amazon. This obviously isn't kydex foam because when you set the 300+ degree kydex on this foam it melts and leaves a permanent imprint of the hot kydex, your pistol or magazine. It would be workable for a few small projects and then you'll have to throw it away. The foam I bought for slightly more from Knifekits should be good for years. The photo shows the sellers foam on the left and actual kydex foam on the right which has been used more but shows no sign of heat damage.

I haven't used it enough to know exactly how well i like it. I originally thought that it was going to be too stiff/firm, but has worked out quite well so far. I will continue to use it and update my review later. As of right now, I have made a few kydex wallets, and it has worked out well so far. Holsters will be next, and I'm optimistic right now.

Good for holster making
As many other people have stated, the foam is pretty stiff to the touch which can be a little discouraging. Admittedly, I initially felt the same. I wanted to try it as there have been people with positive results. In my pictures you can see the results of my test. The piece on the left was with the Gourd foam replacement, the piece on the right was made with premium foam from holstersmith. There is comparable definition between the two, and I would even venture to say the Gourd has better definition. As you can see in the pictures it does leave an impression in the foam; however that impression does not make the foam unusable. I’ve made 2 more molds since then and it hasn’t failed me as of yet. For the price, free shipping, and fast delivery, this product is pretty solid after 3 uses.

Thickness not as advertised
I have not tried the product out yet, but right off the bat I'm upset because I picked the 1.5" option and received 1" foam for $32.59. There's not even a 1" option, only 1/2" or 1.5". I wanted thicker foam, because I have not gotten great results before with 1" foam. The density seems to be about right, but I'm debating even trying it because it's not as advertised. Will probably just return it and find some foam of the right thickness somewhere else.

Not worth the money-deteriorated on the first sheath.
I replaced some 2 year old material with this product. I made a knife sheath. It would not release from the kydex. When I finally was able to remove it, part of the material came loose leaving small holes in the foam. It also will not release the shape with heat as most of these products should.Don't buy!

For knives, not for holsters.
This foam might work well for flat knives, but not for any holsters. It's too dense to mold around anything nite than a flat surface. 5 stars for knives. 0 starts for anything else. I wasted my money.

Not so sure it supposed to do that.
The foam keeps the shape of ALL my previous kydex forms. .80 375 degrees and every single form can be seen from the last to the first.
