This absolutely stunning book is worth every penny, if you're a lover of amazing historical space-related art. Its a wonder of images through the ages showing how people's perception and representation of the heavens, and the objects in it, been influenced by and has influenced religion, politics, social change. The pictures are stunning. My wife first came across it in the Bodleian Library while researching an article, and literally cried with joy when i gave her a copy.

This is an amazing book with beautiful coloured plates on every page. Illustrations from ancient times to modern show how we processed our understanding of the universe. It's a big heavy book which is more than worth its value and is simply stunning.

The product of a lot of scholarship, with very well produced images at a size normally reserved for very expensive productions. This is a book to dip into and reflect on that will last many years.

This is a beautifully put together book - fascinating, with amazing imagery.

Es una joya, visualmente hablando. Las imágenes son muy buenas y hay muchas. El tamaño del libro es grande y eso ayuda a apreciar mejor las imágenes, tiene pequeñas explicaciones sobre cómo el ser humano ha representado el cosmos a través del tiempo, desde tiempos antiguos hasta nuevas tecnologías de investigación usadas en el espacio. Si disfrutas de la pintura/ el espacio/ la historia. Es un excelente libro.

This book brings me joy every time I open it. It inspires my art practice and really highlights human curiosity, and the way we have struggled to make sense of the stars throughout human history. The images are brilliant and crisp, and the writing is engaging and informative, but rightfully takes backstage to the image.

Absolutely gorgeous book. Looking forward to having this as a family book for all of us. It appeals to all ages. Just look at the pics if you like or delve into the fantastic pic description s and chapter intros for more detail.

5 stars for the book, beautiful and informative. Unfortunately amazon delivered it damaged, so I am sending it back as usual. I keep on telling them that they should pack items better. For example, they put this book in a considerable larger book, with some spare wrapping paper as bumper. That was of course not enough and as the parcel is thrown around, poor book flings from one side to the other, and of course it gets damaged, see pictures. By using appropriate packaging material specifically designed for books, they could save paper, posatge, working time, but it is hopeless to try to explain this to these idiots.
