The Feathers McGraw penguin model kit from Wallace and Grommit is a great activity set.The quality of the kit is great, with clear instructions, and good quality thick card building pieces. My 7 year old has had a great time building it, but found it quite challenging and needed some help with a few steps. He is a few years below the recommended age range of 10+, but I think it is a fine kit for a younger child if they enjoy this type of building projects.There is quite a lot of pieces and it it took my son quite a few hours to finish putting it together.Excellent kit and great quality.

This kit arrived in a simple and colourful fold up, slotted box - already showing it's eco/plastic free credentials.Inside the box were four printed, thick card boards and three printed sheets of thick paper.Each piece simply pushes out (they even provide a cardboard tool for the purpose) and slots together to form the model.We haven't made this yet, as I ordered it for my son's birthday next month. However all the pieces are clearly printed, with obvious slots that will be straightforward to put together.The instructions are fully illustrated and, literally, provide a step by step guide. Suitable for ages 10+ (or a bit younger with some occasional adult help) I think it's a great looking build and bound to appeal, given that "Feathers McGraw" is the subject matter.At £14.99, at time of review, it may seem expensive for an item made entirely of cardboard but the quality is fantastic and it will definitely provide at least a couple of hours of build time.
