This book has been updated and is now therefore even better than the original release a number of years ago.It explains Buddhism in easy to understand laymans terms which fits in well with the modern world. Good book for those new to Buddhism and inspiring for the "old dogs" too.

The best starter's book for those who have chosen or are just thinking about trying a diamond way in buddhism. Its one of my bedside table books now.

Chiarisce concetti articolati con un linguaggio lineare e semplice per cui, personalmente, ritengo costituisca una ottima chiave interpretativa per un occudentale che voglia avvicinarsi al buddhismo. Secondo me vale la pena acquistare questo libro.

The book describes the main issues, guide lines and views concerning the Buddhist approach towards the world. Easy to read without loosing the complexity of the topics.

Lama Ole Nydahl ist der bekannteste westliche buddhistische Lehrer. Er führt auf moderne Weise und der westlichen Gesellschaft entsprechend in den tibetischen Buddhismus ein. Für alle, die mit ihrem Geist arbeiten wollen,um besser mit sich und anderen zu leben,bzw. für Menschen, die über den Tod hinaus denken.

As an introduction, a work of reference - an inexhaustible source of wisdom! The best book to the theme i've ever read.

Some of Lama Ole's books in the past have been written specifically for his students. He always looked for publishers that would print his words exactly as he wrote them, despite his Danish dry humor, subtleties and attempts to pack each sentence with three topics and layers of meaning. For this reason his books were not really meant for everyone.This book he took a different approach. It was actually written in German, and translated by an American Phd in Philosphy. This way of writing resulted in very clean and precisely articulated words and meaning.I would say this book is truly for public consumption and could become a best-seller in and out of the Buddhist world. I am very happy it was finally written and can feel good about passing it on to anyone interested in Buddhism as a first introduction as well as to those with many years experience with meditation.

This is written for Westerners to better relate to it. A lot of truths in here that once read, become "simple" truths because they seem so right. Lama Ole takes the time to speak with his audience, not talking down to it or cadging thoughts in florid terms. This is part of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism, and the chapters are a good part of a daily meditation.

For anyone who has ever been curious about Buddhism but could not understand what is being written about it, this book if for you. It is written in terms that make every aspect of Buddhism easy to understand. It also gives the personal history of Buddha in detail with a timeline and more information than you ever dreamed existed. It makes him into a real man who overcame much and benefited the world.

I enjoyed this book. It was a great introduction to Diamond Way teachings. I am looking forward to learning more about this form of Buddhism.
