Beyond the Silence: My Life, the World and Autism Paperback – 1 Jan. 2000

This is an amazing book, written by Tito, a 12 year old autistic boy who lives in India. In the most beautiful poetry and prose Tito desribes the world around him. With an autistic brother myself I found this book incredible - a real treasure.

For a book that was so highly recommended I found "Beyong the Silence" disappointing. I persevered, but was relieved to reach the end after putting it down many times. The story of Tito is indeed remarkable, and his writing offers some rare insights into autism. But don't get caught up in the hype. It's not a great read.
