Not an official version
I really enjoyed this book in the main. I was surprised to find that David is an EastEnder. There were times when I wondered if the author of the book had fallen out with David over something as in most of it he is very much on David's side but there are parts of the book where he suddenly seems to be anti David putting in scathing comments about his attitude to people he has worked with. On the whole it is an interesting insight into the career of a very hard working and successful man. It is obvious that he is a very private person and values his time away from the limelight and adoring fans that he comes into contact with away from work. I was glad to know that he enjoyed playing Pop Larkin as he is one of my all time favourite characters that David has played. I look forward to seeing him in the upcoming version of Open All Hours even if it is only to see how he copes with 'Arkwrights till'.

Dissappointed
I had not noticed this was not written by David Jason. Trying to read this was like reading excerpts collated from newspapers, past stories or interviews to form a life story. I gave up at the first chapter

Disappointing
This was informative, though lacked the vibrance and personal detail of an autobiography. There was some repetition and disjointedness, maybe because it was co-written? It seemed to over rely on people's opinions, and interviews with known associates of David, and so I felt it was not always balanced and certainly didn't give the full inside story, I was looking for.

A predictable and interesting book about a much loved and admired public figure
This was an interesting book about the inexorable rise of one of our favourite characters. The fact that he doesn't suffer fools gladly came across clearly. And it appears that he can be somewhat dismissive of earlier friends, although generous nevertheless when he chooses to be. The price of fame was made obvious in the sense that he can enjoy little or no privacy when out and about.

Well worth a read, Gary grows up.....
I really enjoyed this book. Martin Clunes has become part of our culture, and he is shown dealing sympathetically with our obsession for dogs, a subject close to Martin's heart. The book does not disappoint, you are lead through Martin's many characters and accomplishments which show the versatility of this very British actor. Gary has grown up and as you follow his career in the book you can see his full potential coming through - he's a really nice bloke, and it shows.I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.....

David Jason
Not a bad book but found it dragged in places, took me a month to get through it, while I like David Jason the author could have cut out a lot of the conversation and got down to the essential bits about David Jason.

A Waste of Time
Disappointing that it wasn't the official biography of David Jason. This book seemed to be based on petty gossip gleaned from people who hardly knew the man but had brief associations at various times in his life. It really was a waste of my time reading it & seemed to try to denigrate this actor of such immense talent by emphasising points like his lack of height. Don't bother to read it.
