Mixed quality...
I've had one of the original Buddha boards that I loved. I don't always want to compare items but I had hopes these would be similar in quality. The kit I chose came with two boards, two classic brushes, two fillable brushes, a little ceramic pot for water, a stand and a painted brush holder. Here's why the quality is mixed:The brushes are nice. I really like the fillable ones - not something I had before and I like that they don't have to be re-dipped like the classic brush. The ceramic bowl and brush holder are lovely. The painting is pretty good on the holder and the curled edges of the bowl is sweet. The stand is basic plastic. Nothing to really comment on here but it gets the job done.Had I been able to stop here, I probably would've given this kit a 4 or 5. It's pretty good with the above items. However, this kit is all about the boards. That's what makes this kit worth wanting. The boards are pretty much coated cardboard. Really? Considering this is the main feature of the entire kit, this is quite disappointing. They are very, very thin compared to other water-painting boards and kinda floppy. Do they work? Yeah, you can paint with water on them. But for the cost, pretty disappointing.

Flimsy and Fragile
I picked up this "Buddha Board" product thinking it was a genuine Buddha Board branded product... but it definitely is not. From the panel holder to the drawing boards themselves, everything in this set is composed of cheaply made, thin, and highly breakable plastic. The panels (there are two of them) are not slate backed like the standard Buddha Board products. Rather, they are made of a plastic thin enough that it bends under its own weight. The included stand is nowhere near weighted enough to keep the boards stable and in place. As a result, when you try to paint on the boards they flex and bend under the slightest amount of pressure, and the stand slides back and forth due to its flimsiness and general lack of surface area.I haven't encountered a product this cheaply made in some time... and that is saying something in 2024! Save your money, don't be fooled like I was, and get a genuine, slate-backed Buddha Board. You will be glad you did!

Defective
There were two boards in my set and both of them have surface flaws. This is not a first quality product. These are defective. They are fun to use, and if it is warm and dry weather, they erase very quickly. To speed up the clearing of the water I put them in the sun, and it took just a minute for them to dry out, so I could restart. These are also thin and they are not flat. They are kind of curved and warped because there is not a thick backing on them. It comes with decent calligraphy brushes, as well as some plastic water brushes, and a nice little bowl for the water. The easel is very small plastic and thin. This is fun to do. I just wish that the boards were first quality and that maybe they were thicker so that they would be flat. My photo showed the defects in the surface.

Very clean
I got this as a gift for my spouse. He's been very stressed out lately and loves to draw. He often gets nitpicky over details, so I thought this would be a good way to relax since the drawing wouldn't be permanent so mistakes don't really matter. The set itself is lovely and hubs seemed to like it.

Board will not stay on stand. Dries much too quickly.
The media could not be loaded. This set comes with nice water brushes and I like the water bowl and brush holder. However, the board dries so fast that you can't really finish any type of drawing. The Product Description page shows an image still faintly showing after 10 minutes. The box states 'will automatically disappear within 2-3 minutes' and this is far more accurate. Even trying to draw a very simple tree, the trunk disappears before I can draw branches. The board will not stay on the stand at all (see video) - the lip of the stand does not have enough depth and height to hold the board. As you can see in the photo, I set a paperweight in front of the board to keep it propped against the stand. The process of writing with water is somewhat meditative - but this set is not as good as what I feel it needs to be to really enjoy it.
