Learn Your Lesson: Kings of the Ice

Love Daddy P and Chloe's story!
One of my favorite Kandi Steiner books to date! No one writes chemistry with such gusto, characters with such sincere and authentic growth journeys, or spice that feels so cathartic and connective. And Learn Your Lesson is all the things I love about books by author Kandi Steiner. But Learn Your Lesson also felt somehow more- a deeper, more moving experience with personal resonance that I wasn't quite expecting. Kandi Steiner has written a few books that feel profoundly personal to me in the way I connect with the heroines she depicts, and Chloe is one of those characters. It’s almost eerie how much of myself I found in Chloe. Small details like her quirks and hobbies or her love for her three musCATeers and their themed names. Life details like being an educator or my college romantic experiences…. But there are deeper parts of Chloe that resonated so intensely I felt raw and vulnerable reading about her. Like being raised my single women, the profound disillusionment with the concept of a Prince Charming learned in a real lived way by the experienced of our matriarchs, a feeling juxtaposed to that carefully guarded longing we have to be someone’s “one,” that repressed but vibrant romantic dream. Or Chloe’s stoic isolation…how adulting can feel so lonely despite being around others all the time. How rare and challenging it is to find real connection as we age. Oh my did I feel so seen by this character, and how full my heart felt by how tenderly and lovingly Kandi Steiner conveyed her. How gently she unfurls on the pages…how rewarding it was to see her find her soul mate, find a man who loves and cherishes and uplifts all the pieces of her….even if Daddy P took a while to find his way. He’s a dreamboat under his own stoic shield. And what a beautiful story it is to see not just two people fall in love but a family form. To see three beautiful souls who have stopped believing in an HEA find healing and hope and wholeness again because someone else sees the heart in them and cares enough not just to hold it but to revitalize it. It’s a sweet and vibrant and heartwarming lesson in the power of love and vulnerability, and I could not love this book more! It's a tenderly told, emotionally resonant, and really charming love story. And of course what full of that memorable Kandi Steiner spice...the spice is spicing, but it's truly a vehicle through which these two characters can explore more than their physicality. Their exploration becomes a safe, deceptively low stakes, way for both of them to allow themselves to lean into their connection. For both of them to open up and deepen their bond in a way that they can deny as "more"...when we (and they) both know it is. And my goodness did I love them. Daddy P captured my heart with his love of his daughter, with his past hurt, with his protectiveness and care of others. And Chloe- well, she's everything. My favorite Kandi Steiner heroine to date. The audio book is also spectacular performed and perfectly cast- I was mesmerized by the performances! Both brought so much heart to the characters. The male narration of Daddy P has the grit and gravitas that had me melting. And the female narration is some of the best I've heard- she brings such lightness and charm and effervescence to Chloe. I loved this book and narration!- my heart is so full!

Very spicy and sweet. Ava and Chef Patel were fun characters in the story. Not my favorite KS book but still worth the read.

Couldn’t put this down!!
⭐️: 5/5🌶️: 4/5Tropes:-Single dad/nanny-Hockey romance-HOT lessons-Opposites attract-Forced proximity-Grumpy/sunshine-Found familySummary:Chloe’s matriarchy only wanted her to learn one lesson and that is that all men are trash. Until Will walks in. The two can’t fight their attraction from one another until they give in. But with rules, neither can get attached. He needs a nanny and she needs the job. The two believe they can definitely not catch feelings. But there may be more than one lesson to learn. My Thoughts:Wow!! This book left me speechless. It was amazing!! This is my first Kandi Steiner book and now I have to start from the beginning of the series. I was convinced to read this book after seeing it all over bookstagram when it released last week and let me tell you…this book is amazing!! I loved every second of it. It was funny, it was angsty and sometimes sad, it was refreshing, it was spicy…it was everything! Put me in all the feels. Although you gave us whiplash with your emotions it was understandable. To grieve years later without realizing it but to have someone there who sees you and wants to bring you joy. When he knew he loved Chloe his declaration to her was all I needed. Chloe was such a light and a rainbow at the end of the storm for Will and his daughter Ava. She was unapologetically her. I loved how she learned to have confidence in herself and her body. She took care of them in more ways than they could have ever imagined. I’m so glad she didn’t let her mom and grandma’s views get in the way of her wanting to see where things could go with her and Will. The man-haters definitely annoyed me but I tried to take it as them wanting to care for Chloe lol. The friendships in this book were beautiful. The friendship between Chloe and Chef was so cute. I need the tea on her and Uncle Mitch 😂 because I need more!! And when I tell y’all the spice was spicing!! It was GOOD. Anyway, thanks for the recommendation to all who posted and pubbed this book, it is a MUST read!!

DADDY P!!
“We are doing our best.”Daddy P has entered the chat and I was HERE FOR IT!!! I’ve been so curious about his story and I knew it was going to be an emotional ride.“Will Perry, forever playing the role of Daddy,”Will is having a hard time finding a reliable nanny for his daughter, Ava. Being a single dad and a professional hockey player has its difficulties when Chloe (Ava’s teacher) offers to help, he takes her up on it. Soon enough she is moving in and caring for Ava.“ I love spending time with that grumpy kid of yours,”I loved watching the relationship between Will and Ava, she mirrors her dad grumpy persona in the best way but seeing her start to blossom under Chloe’s kid and start embracing her childhood left me speechless.“You’ve got to tell me what you like, what you need,”Chloe and her 3 cats were the perfect addition to their family. Chloe is a character who is filled with Sunshine even after growing up in a very ‘man hating’ environment. Because of this, she is inexperienced when it comes to the opposite sex due to keeping her distance.“ I don’t want to live another moment without you. “One of my favourite micro-tropes is ‘spicy lessons’ and Kandi NAILED it with this book. I loved the push and pull of their relationship and those spicy moments together were spicy.. that popsicle scene (ikyky) I found myself getting choked up during the emotional moments especially when Will let’s down his walls and you see how damaged he is from his past.“ Our family was different, it was born of both tragedy and magic. “This book was so healing for both characters and I loved their little family. The bonding with Ava felt natural and when Will truly let’s himself fall, you see some of the changes that follow. With the teases that we were given for the next book, I can’t wait for this series to continue.

Learn Your Lesson 💚
This story is about Will Perry and Chloe. Will can't seem to find a nanny who will stay. But then he notices how good his daughter's kindergarten teacher, Chloe, is with her. Chloe is kind and cheerful, on a mission to make Will and his daughter, Ava, happy. She's the opposite of Will, who is quiet and grumpy.I really loved this book! Will is the perfect grump, and his daughter Ava is just like him. Chloe and Will are perfect for each other. I liked how Chloe helped Ava and Will come out of their shells. My heart went out to Will, who was afraid of losing people. He tried not to love Chloe but couldn't help falling for her sunny personality and kind heart. Chloe was perfect for Will and Ava.Ava stole my heart, and I wanted her to be happy throughout the book. I also liked Chef Patel, who added fun to the story with some Hindi words. I enjoyed all the tropes in this book, and the ending where Will apologizes was great. I can't wait to read more from this series.

obsessed
Daddy P didn’t disappoint. Age gap, grumpy single dad x nanny AND he’s a professional hockey player? SIGN ME UP! The tension between him and Chloe was glorious! Their chemistry was undeniable, the spice was spicing and I just lapped up every single second of their relationship.I’m a sucker for spicy lessons trope and it was done so well, the rules they put in place that added to the tension between them and knowing that rules are made to be broken🥵The relationship Chloe had with his daughter was beautiful and seeing how she helped her open up and be a kid just had me melting. This little family is adorable and I’m in love with them! Definitely my new favourite in the series!

DADDY P!!
This book was everything I hoped it would be and more! I know how Kandi does it but every book just gets even more amazing! What happens when the single dad, NHL goalie starts catching feelings for his daughter’s teacher turned nanny?I had so much fun reading this one! I’ve been dying for Daddy Ps books since the beginning and it exceeded my expectations!I absolutely loved Chloe! When she starts teaching Wills daughter, she never expected to become the nanny he desperately needed but she was the perfect pimento help him out.The chemistry between was through the roof! Will was determined not to overstep boundaries but when they spend every day together, almost all day and night, the feelings become harder to resist. And when they finally combust! I think my kindle damn near melted with the heat between them. Both Will and Chloe had their own issues and reasons for not wanting relationships but I loved their journey to discovering that what they thought they wanted/needed wasn’t really true.I loved that Chloe brought lightness and fun and happiness into Will & Ava’s lives, honestly the father/daughter duo were two peas in a pod, permanent scowls, no real happy moments. But Chloe brought so much happiness into their lives that and it was so beautiful to see them both happier and enjoying life.I’m so happy Chloe, Will and Ava now have the perfect happily ever after. They are the cutest little family! I loved every single moment of this book and everyone needs to read it!

Daddy P
Listen, Daddy P has some serious moves and while my interest got peaked because of the popsicle seen GD mentioned in one of her lives, it defo did not play out the way I thought it would. The first 50% of the book had a decent enough pace that I was frustrated like I was with book one but after 50% the pace was a bit iffy.Decent story, decent characters, awakenings of sorts..Yeh it’s a better read for me than book one.
