Enlightening
Sound book about a very sad and tragic area in the World. Easy to understand and giving a fair account from both sides of the debate.

With a subject like this it would be very easy to takes sides and an author must be cautious, Stewart Ross did a fine job with this book. Both sides are presented fairly, the history is explained well and my knowledge has increased profoundly since reading this. I admit, before I read it I thought I knew what the conflict was all about, now I know its a lot more complex and deeper than I thought. My only gripe was the fact that I found myself re-reading some lines over and over to get into my head what the writer was saying (but maybe that's just me) and there are a few spelling mistakes and unclosed brackets. (Like this...Well worth the read if you want to know all about what's going on in the middle easy and why.

Justice
A very fair and well written account, beyond my expectations of a 'Teach Yourself' book, filling a large hole in public knowledge of the conflict.

Concise but full of facts and details narrated in superb humane style
A must read for those who want to read an objective narrative of the longdrawn out drama of our times. The facts, figures and the quotes are excellent alongwith txts of historical documents whereever necessary. Above all, I liked the linguistic style of the writer who has a grip on the flow of apt words at appropriate places. Having read a dozen books on the subject this seemed the best one. Probably because author has served somewhere in the Middle East in academia and observed things from different perspectives.
