If I could afford to have this gait belt in every Special Education classroom, I would. This belt is the perfect size for my pediatric school-based patients ages 3-10. We have many students who are non-ambulatory and I have trained the staff to transfer the students with this belt. They are very satisfied with this belt and find it to be safe and effective. The only thing I would change is to add the quick-release buckle to this belt to make the donning and doffing of the belt easier. The rainbow color makes the belt much more attractive for staff who do not have a medical background and have never seen a gait belt before. The staff was quite horrified by the old-school white, hospital-looking belt I brought in which was 60 inches long. It looked like a horse-whip to them and they refused to use it. The 40 inches is perfect for the tiny waists of children. We also use this to help with safe walking for children following surgeries. Additionally, it is good for steadying the students who have trouble sitting, when we want to take them out of the wheelchair and put them in a regular classroom chair with paraprofessional support.

The amazon description did not make it clear to me how the belt and reflector are sewn together, each one needing the other, not be detached, even with a razor, because the reflector needs to be attached to the belt ends (thee is no belt strap through or across the reflector.

It safely secures my 92 year old mom, she was leaning forward. hospice doesnt have seat belts due to restraining. But I feel better knowing my mom wont fall forward on her head.

The only thing is the straps aren't long enough but other than that it's fine

My sibling has advanced Alzheimers and can no longer sit up in her wheelchair. This is comfortable for her and works well to keep her from falling out, and it is not thin like the one that came with her chair, so it is better for her. Her caregiver uses this often.

The strap mechanism kept coming loose. I was constantly retightening it. I finally got fed up with it and had to sew part of it. As I did it, I noticed that the stitching where I sewed had previous stitch work on it.It functions as it should now but buyer beware that it is cheaply made for a safety measure.

I purchased this safety belt for my mother who is in a wheelchair , and I must say it works in keeping my mother safe and she says it's very comfortable I can leave the room without fear she will fall out of her wheelchair I highly recommend this Safety belt .great company and customer service plus fast delivery I would definitely buy again .5 star
