Cheap, cheerful and surprisingly good
Oh dear, made in Britain...if you're a fan of the IT Crowd (or the Austin Allegro) you'll immediately know why this isn't always a good thing. But colour me shocked, this is actually a very nicely constructed piece of audio equipment, albeit a bit basic. Either way it's quite good value for money. I only bought it because I needed an amp in a hurry (long story) and it was one of the few in stock at a good price. In the box you get:• The unit itself which is not only incredibly heavy but finished in a black aluminium which is pleasant to the touch. A single control dial on the front with a smooth action and a very solid feel. It has multiple functions depending on how many times or how long you press it. On the back there's 4 sets of RCA jacks, although they're all line level inputs, they're labelled differently to correspond with the input selector (perhaps a numbered system may have been better). An optical in and a subwoofer out. The four connection posts for the speaker wires are very well constructed, tighten up nicely and have plenty of room for higher gauge wiring if you desire. I've bi-wired my Wharfedale bookshelves with no issues at at all. The control dial is backlit by a coloured LED (Red, Green or Blue) which can be changed to suit your style or turned off entirely.• A remote. A bit basic and cheap feeling with rubbery buttons, but it's essential for the unit really as the turn dial on the device won't do everything. It's well worth reading through the manual to learn some of the nuances for adjusting bass and treble etc as it's not immediately obvious. I've had no issues with responsiveness, range, or line of site.• 2x AAA batteries for the remote.• A manual and power cord (which is the figure 8 style connector).Sound quality tested with my Rega Planar 1 turntable (with a pre-amp) and the TV in that room wired from 3.5mm to RCA is excellent and I plan to add more devices in future. It's not out of this world amazing but for the price it's a step up from the myriad of cheaper devices flooding Amazon's marketplace right now. It stands up well to my main £400+ Denon AV Receiver in another room and for £120 that's not bad going.Contrary to previous purchasers, I believe the unit I received is a slightly newer revision as there's no mention of phono anywhere on the labelling on the back which suggests they've taken the criticism on board as there's definitely no phono pre-amp in this unit. There's also no voice over on my unit telling you what's happening all the time, perhaps another revision based on feedback...if this is the case then it perhaps could have been in Tibo's interest to bump the model number up.I'm also not getting anything in the way of a standby hum either. It's completely silent which is very surprising as my house has very very outdated wiring and I get all sorts of issues with Subwoofers etc but not with this unit. They've either fixed the issue or I've just gotten lucky.Once again I'm surprised, I'm a stickler for buying good quality audio components and seldom break away from the big names but this time I'm pleased I did. In fact I'm so impressed I'm actually tempted to pick up some of the other Tibo separates to compliment this one as it looks a bit lonely on its own, I don't need a CD player or a digital radio but I can't deny that a stack of these might look pretty decent when all working together. The only thing I don't know is if the supplied remote will cover all of the devices as there's no data link between them that I can see.So yeah, definitely worth a punt. If it's not for you it can always be returned but don't be put off by the unknown and the few reported issues, it seems Tibo have been listening and have sorted some of the larger concerns.

2nd Tibo Product Ive had to return in as many weeks
After returning my Tibo Bond 2 after 1 days use because the USB socket fell out (!) I was beginning to get a little concerned about Tibo's quality control.... I was right to worry .... now this amp I bought only 2 weeks ago has stopped playing my turntable fed through the Line In input. Instead, the Line In mode plays what's fed into my Tuner input even when in Line In mode (another Tibo product, this time a DAB Tuner), but if I route my turntable through to the CD input it works fine! Also, the Aux input has stopped working, but again, if I plug my BT receiver (which I bought for £15 to replace the £50 box of junk Tibo Bond 2 and which works perfectly) into the CD input... it plays fine too. All very weird and random - but left me thinking any Tibo product is a ticking timebomb so returning this faulty amp plus the Tuner (before it goes wrong too)... and never going near anything made by Tibo again. Cheap for a reason.

Standby function faulty, (it would be better without standby)
I have one of these in my lounge stereo system. So I bought another one for my 'office' to work with my PC.It suffered from an audible hum and the 'soft start' system which incorporates an audio announcement did not work, instead there is a 'crack' to the speakers at switch on and, especially, when coming out of standby. So I returned it.The replacement unit, has the same issue but no background hum, also sounds a bit flat on the treble.I just printed out the return instructions.I will be buying an amp with no standby function and proper front panel controls, (source, bass and treble).

Value for money amp decent sound subwoofer output
Bought to set up a system in garage (man cave). Firstly as others have stated there is no phono input with preamp circuit. This to me is a good thing as if you don’t have a turntable this input is wasted. I do have a turntable and use an external preamp which tends to be better than internal ones anyway. Sound quality is good with the treble being a bit wild and unrefined so sound quality loses one star. Pared with slightly dull speakers (£60 warfedales in my case) it balances out fine. The thing that swayed me was that this amp has a subwoofer LFE out socket and I already had a spare sub I wanted to use. This really improves the perceived output if you get a Sub. On a limited budget I’m very happy with my 2.1 sound in my man cave. Minuses, the input selection is a bit slow to change between but there is no electronic voice talking at you on mine like some have mentioned so maybe they did away with that when they dumped the phono input. Recommended.

It hums! But sounds ok!
It’s ok! I didn’t want to pay a lot as teenagers using it with an excellent budget turntable. Sound quality is very good and seems solidly built. Remote is very naff and feels cheap. The hummmmmm! The unit hums when off. Not a problem for me as I turn it off on the switch at back but it’s annoying. If it turns itself off through inactivity then the hum is huge. Otherwise just gentle mains hum from a badly attached transformer. Ignoring the hum when it’s off, sounds good. One dial for volume and push for source. Irritated that the Amazon pictures show phono input which it actually doesn’t have. Not an issue for me but could have been if I’d used the elderly Technics turntable. Ok for the money. Probably should send it back but for £120, not a lot else available.

Sounds good, but noisy
I'm using this amp with a Pro-Ject turntable and pre-amp and a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 220 speakers. In general, I'm happy with the amp - the sound quality is excellent for the price, it drives the speakers well and it has a reasonable level of tone control (although it's a bit clunky with the remote). The main issue I have with it is that when in standby, there's a really noticeable hiss from the speakers that once you've heard it, you'll not un-hear it. This is only stopped by powering the amp off completely. Admittedly, I should probably be doing that anyway to save power but still, it should be completely silent when "off" and that looses it a star.
