💦 Elevate Your Water Game!
DuPont whole house water filter technology increases clarity of your entire home's water by reducing sediment, which extends the life of appliances that process water. These filters and systems can also be used at the office. The Valve-in-head Whole House Water Filtration System features an easy-glide by-pass valve built-in to the housing head. This allows you to replace cartridges without shutting off the water main. The clear housing lets you monitor filter life. It includes a DuPont 800 series cartridge which reduces sediment like rust and silt particles which improves tap and bath water. It is a universal system which makes it easy to upgrade filtration with higher performing DuPont water filters. The filter life is 15,000 gallons of water and the maximum filtered water flow is 5 gallons per minute. It has 3/4-inch inlets and outlets. The system has a three year limited warranty. It includes the filter head with housing, an 800 series DuPont cartridge and a tank wrench. Tools needed for installation are a Phillips screwdriver, adjustable wrench and a pipe cutter or hacksaw. It is tested and certified by the Water Quality Association against NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for material requirements and structural integrity.

Great price for the features
I bought this because I believe there is a break in my water line and sediment is getting into they system. Since it's winter, it could be awhile before I can dig up the line to find the problem, so this is a temporary solution. I looked into reverse osmosis, UV purifiers, and various other filters. The best systems are reverse osmosis systems that filter up to 1/1000 of a micron, which would get rid of virtually anything that would make you sick -- sediment, protozoa cysts, and bacteria. However, those systems are either point of use (on top or under the sink) which won't protect my equipment from sediment and I would have to purchase multiple systems -- one for every sink that kids might want to drink out of -- or they are MASSIVELY expensive. UV systems only kill the bacteria and don't get out whatever nasty stuff might be getting into system and jamming up my appliances and/or my kidneys (yes, kidney stones can be caused by crud in your water). This is just a sediment filter. The positives are that it's very cheap, the built in valve means you don't have to turn off the water to change the filter, and because it takes a standardized filter size, you have a choice in filters. This means you can get a filter for it that filters down to 5 microns, which is sufficient to take both the sediment and the protozoa cysts (Giardia) out of your water. However, it still won't take out bacteria. If you are worried about bacteria, that means you either still have to buy a UV purifier, or in lieu of that, still boil your water if you have a bacteria problem. If you don't have a bacteria problem, you're golden and this filter is all you need.Cons: Doesn't filter out bacteria. Also, you really really have to screw the body on tight tight tight with the included "wrench." The most minuscule gap will make it leak. They probably could have designed that part a bit better with a nice big rubber gasket, but they didn't. So put some muscle into it. Also, because the lid is plastic, it took a LOT of pipe joint tape and sealant to keep it from leaking. This takes a 3/4 inch threaded pipe on both ends. You have to buy your own adapters with a male end and a quick connect end if you don't want threaded pipe.

Unit is worth the price. Installed easily enough and works like a charm for 5gph unit.
So just like a lot of people said, this thing leaked a bit at first on the water output. BUT!!! I gave it a few extra wraps (8 - 10) of plumbers tape and no leak. Holding solid and I have my water pressure back most importantly.I'd say for the price it is worth it. We will see. The flow rate is only 5gph and i like strong showers.... so I may add another one of these to the mix or upgrade. But if you don't mind the average shower, nice pressure for water and overall a great setup, this is the way to go. I'll be adding a pressure gauge to the output at some point to monitor it. Will buy again however!

Tip on install
Bought this as a backup knowing that I would eventually need to replace an older model of a different maker. This units seems well made and of good quality materials. The only gripe I have is the inlet and outlet threads on the housing are plastic. I am not a plumber, but found out the hard way that to keep this whole house filter from leaking was to wrap the brass fittings 10-12 times with Teflon tape plus use a pipe dope as an extra precaution. After 2 tries this was the only way to stop the leaks. Third time a charm. Next time I will probable purchase a model having metal or brass threads instead of plastic. This is the second whole house filter I’ve installed here and the previous filter did have metal threads. And that filter didn’t require as much tape and no pipe dope on install. Plus got it installed on the first try. Lesson well learned.

Great with some very minor issues!
This is a pretty good system with a few minor installation/set up issues.First off, I disagree with the people who said their flow rates/pressure was significantly reduced. This may very well be true if the filter is extremely dirty/clogged but with a clean(ish) filter I've noticed no difference and I have a very old well pump and also installed a water neutralizing filter at the same time as this. The installation process was fairly easy. I had a plumber (my father) install it and it didn't take too much time. The mounting bracket (sold separately) is pretty necessary so be sure to purchase that. We had a few leaks the first couple of times we put it on (because we were trying to be careful not to overtighten and break the plastic housing (even though it looks like very solid plastic.) We finally just put some pipe dope around the threads and the leaks went away. You must definitely use some silicone grease on the o-ring inside the filter housing to avoid that leaking as well so purchase some of that ahead of time.Hire a plumber to install it (most towns/states require it for code issues) and you shouldn't have any issues and shouldn't spend too much on the plumber!I'd definitely buy it again and look forward to many years of clean whole house water!!

Obviously a used item
This is exactly what we are looking for however it was obviously a used item. It had a fair amount of water present on the plastic as well as the inside filter part. The filter wasn't wrapped and the paperwork was also wet. We re-read the description and no where does it say this was a used item. Keeping it because I need it, but kind of disappointed that I got a used product that was sold as new.

Great product!!! If you actually know how to install!
I found this product to be perfect for what I needed. I am using it to filter sediment out of the water before it gets to my washer. This product DOES NOT LEAK. I took a chance on this product because of its price even though other people have had issues with it. Well.... I think it is likely user error. I used a hefty amount of teflon tape and snugged the threads up tight and have had no issues. To anyone questioning whether this product is right for you just buy it. For under $20 for a solid product you cant go wrong. Just do yourself a favor and do like 10 wraps of teflon tape and you should be good to go!

Works great
I live in an old house with rusted pipes. This filter catches so many particles and most if not all of the rust floating in the water.

Resistente
Muy resistente, estaría bien que no fuera traslúcido para que no se generen bacterias. Aún lo sigo usando solo cambiando cartuchos

Easy install with no water leaks
I replaced an older competitor's home water filter unit with this Dupont unit and it was an easy project to do as the measurements of the housing unit were very similar in size. I read a number of reviews written by individuals who experienced water leaking around the threads of the pipe/tubing (intake/outlet) connects into the filter housing. I used the thicker Teflon tape and there were no issues with water leaking around the threaded connection. In fairness to Dupont, this issue appeared to be a common concern with a number of home water filter units.Water leaking around the threaded connections (intake/outlet) was a problem with the older competitor's unit that I tried every thing that I read and/or was told about to stop the water leaks, however, I was not able to correct the problem. This was the reason why I replaced the older unit. The construction of the product appears to be very well built and having the ability to view the water quality and settlement build up is an added plus.
