Rich in new case studies, slightly disorganised
I got the 3rd edition of this book as a teaching aid at my Asian university. I find it quite handy in its use of actual figures and illustrations of changes in the industry. Particularly with the low cost carriers developing so fast, nothing can attract the students more than specific cases like the LCCs in the classroom. Cons: 1) just as the other reviewers pointed out with regard to the old versions, I have to admit that this newer version still has a lot of misplaced texts/typos/numbers and figures and 2) the book seems just a bit on the practical management/engineering side (the good old welfare economics issues are not so fully covered). On average this book should be used as a resource book. (3rd edition has not covered the London congestion charging scheme yet)

Thorough text of passenger transport issues
Chapters focus on demand, elasticity ,supply, costing, pricing, forecasting and aspects of public policy. Concentrates on UK with up to date(1998) examples. Unfortunately the book has not been well proof-read and there are many mistakes where the wrong word has been used in error.
