Lots of information that's hard to find elsewhere
This slim volume is a gem. It describes more of the practicalities of medieval stone building than most such books, and yet is more scholarly. There are chapters on what documentary evidence there is about medieval masonry, about how buildings were designed, about the quarrying and transport of stone, the use of mortar, how buildings were erected, even how the work of individual masons can be recognised. Thoroughly recommended.

Very good book
Very useful information about XI to XIII centuries cathedrals building. This is a rather small but veru dense book, with a lot of very useful photos ilustrating what is explained in the text

Basic...
Not what I expected, all black and white photographs plus standard line drawings. It concentrates on technical, presented in a very straight forward way.
