The Girl Who Built a Spider

If you want your kid to get into reading, this is the book for them!!
I was going to skim over this book before giving it as a gift but I found myself unable to put it down! It has a great story, fun characters, a fast pace...it's funny...it's suspenseful... it's smart..it's inspiring...I truly loved it. This is a perfect story to either read to your kids or have them read for themselves. The shorter chapters are like potato chips....you can't stop at one & you keep telling yourself "okay, one more" ( I must admit I was up later than I planned several nights reading this). The Girl who built a Spider is a great book to capture a kids attention in this fast paced world with all of it's distractions. I felt a little nostalgic reading it...had some elements that reminded me of the Wizard of Oz and Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. This book may be one of those classics for this generation.....and it's a series so the kids have more reading to look forward to!

Loved it
This book was FANTASTIC! As an aspiring environmental engineer myself (just to clarify, I’m not Renata, her 13 year old son) ,this book was everything I could hope for! I loved the vivd descriptions of Dr. Flax’s lab, the interesting and likable characters and most of all, the fascinating and clever plot using real-world (albeit slightly exaggerated) science! This book is great for any budding innovator, nature lover, or anyone looking for a quick, fun read. The book is also good in the aspect of portraying intelligent people in a positive light. It is refreshing to see a stark contrast to the general media portrait of eccentric, buck-toothed, out of shape, awkward geeks. The characters are simple yet likable and aren’t intelectual super-humans that other writers create, but instead more realistic, relatable kids. This was an awesome book and I’d love a sequel alongside some new characters to add more complexity to the already great team chemistry!

Fantastic, exciting read of adventure and empowerment!
What a wonderful book! And for all ages! I loved reading as an adult and my 12 year old and 16 year old both enjoyed as well! It was a fast read almost frustratingly because I wanted to read more! (Hint hint - I hope another is in the making!) Settings were vividly written and wonderful well developed characters that you grow to love. The book gives inspiration to kids to stick to their dreams. A wonderful book based around STEM and innovating projects! Overall just a great story!

Fun Read to Inspire Young Innovators
I loved reading this book to my little one. He is a bit young for the content, but we both enjoyed this book enough that I am sincerely looking forward to re-reading it with him in the future. The characters were diverse, relatable, and inspiring. I highly recommend this original, entertaining, and inspiring story!

Dr. Flax's Mysterious Lab
This book is a page turner for middle school kids as its action packed with a suspenseful exploration of a scientific lab. As a former teacher, who is an avid reader of children's literature, I recommend this book for all libraries. The author portrays the father's love of his daughter, Teresa, as she explores Dr. Flax's mysterious lab creating the invention of her dreams.

it is a very good book
Theresa built a mechanical spider that won first place in the school science fair. Along with two other kids Theresa needs to deal with killer robots, animal locks, and plastic eating monsters. I liked this book because it was funny and had a lot of twist and turns. It also made me think how hard it must be to have only one parent. If you like a book that keeps you laughing I highly recommend the girl who built a spider for third, forth, and fifth graders.

Imagine the impossible is possible
An amazing book for a young mind. George Brewington creates wonderful characters as he draws you into a magical story where the impossible is possible. The characters exemplify different characteristics which allow the reader to identify with each of them both positively and negatively. I’m always amazed when an author can make me not like a character but change my mind in the end. This great story of invention allows the reader to imagine what they can do. For the aspiring young scientist it is a must read. For the young girl or boy who what’s to change the world …you’re story is here. Kudos and well done. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
