Bought this for kids, adults want it, too!
Bought this for Christmas my three-year-old nephew, who lives on a farm and loves all things outdoors, tractor and farm-related. He couldn't get it away from his dad, and my son-in-law also wants a copy! Great resource and teaching tool with sweet illustrations and loads of detail. This author's "Museum of Early American Tools" is also a favorite in our family. Helped us identify some of my grandfather's old tools which are now just cabin wall ornaments. Also bought "A Reverence for Wood" for a family member who does woodworking.

Beautiful illustrations, studies in contrast, vintage lettering styles.
I got this book because Eric Sloan was a sign painter, in addition to being a wonderful artist. His lettering in this book is great. If you need a reference for vintage, professional lettering, this is a good book to have.

Great Sloane Illustrations
If you enjoy Eric Sloane's illustrations, you will want this book. Many of the items illustrated in this book have appeared elsewhere in Eric Sloane's books. But this book is comprised exclusively of illustrations with short captions to provide the necessary information. It would be a nice way to introduce young readers to Sloane's work.

Okay book but not the best from Eric Sloane
Bought this book after reading Eric Sloane's Diary of an Early American Boy - THAT book was great! This book was a let down after reading the other one first. It had some interesting things in it, but it was very very very basic so that was disappointing to me.

Sloane Sweet Sloane
Another great book on Americana by Eric Sloane. Love the way that Mr. Sloane captures the feeling of the time. Like he was there himself. If you love Americana then this book is for you. Also illustrated by Sloane himself you get the feeling of being there yourself. Excellent.

Embarrassing money grab for author. Well below the standard set by, '' A Reverence for Wood ''.
