Great tech-themed story for kids or kids and parents.
I adore this book and so does my daughter. My daughter is almost 2 at the time of writing, and while she falls under the recommended age (4-7), she loves when we read Doll-E 1.0. She even asks for the book by name. The story is easy enough for her to follow, and she enjoys the drawings and characters. As a parent, I appreciate the tech-savvy, empowered, and capable female character. Ms. McClosky Brings a casual nature to the main character’s skills and interests that I find refreshing. The character, Charlotte likes tech, but does not come off as overtly geeky or nerdy. I would imagine kids who are not into technology would also find this entertaining and engaging. I really enjoy the art style and the overall design and details throughout the book. It’s a fantastic addition to your child’s home library and well worth considering if you have a child interested in technology and/or a young daughter.

This book is so much fun! My 5 year-old and 8 year-old girls LOVE it. (I even caught my 11 year-old son sneaking a read.) The illustrations are fun and appealing, the color palette (the blue hair!) really draws you in right away. It's the kind of book you can't help but pull off the shelf to take a look. And the story really lives up to the visual! The brilliant synthesis of good old-fashioned play with high-tech play is told so well. It teaches kids not to forget their imagination but also that technology can be constructive and useful if not overdone. The end ties the whole story together beautifully. And I love the substory with the dog. He comes around to liking the doll, too, in the end, although he's threatened at first. (Look close! He gives a peace offering.) All-in-all a WONDERFUL addition to our library.

Adorable story and book
This book inspired my 6yr olds summer reading passion. She fell in love with this book (that I bought on a whim) and she just loved it. She liked the word bubbles because it broke up the amount of words on the page, making it seem less daunting to her. That was the real draw for me too since she would get intimidated by pages with “too many” words in a paragraph or anything. For a starter she just took to this book! Very cute story with good illustration too. Win

Girl Power - but my boys love it, too!
This is a really fun book with amazing illustrations that pop right off the page. The story about tech-savvy kids is right on point for today’s children, and I love that it shows a girl scientist who is very confident in her tinkering! Great message for adults too - building friendships IS hard work. So many little touches (Bluetooth the dog) made this a really fun read. My boys (3 & 8) love it and I din’t mind reading it over and over. Win-win!

A great addition to any picture book collection!
This is a delightful read for parents who occasionally think the world should slow down and their kids should take a break from technology and instead play with a low-tech doll. Author/illustrator Shanda McCloskey beautiful portrays the creative and stem-inspired Charlotte (and her trusty sidekick dog Blutooth) as Charlotte cleverly bring a new and improved version of Doll-E into their lives. A great addition to any picture book collection!

LOVE this book. Had to buy it.
My daughter is big into Legos and robots, so the main character in this book was right up her alley. She would much rather play with robots than dolls. Besides having similar personality traits to my daughter, this book is just very cleverly written. It's really funny and definitely a book I don't mind reading over and over again. Two big thumbs up!

Doll-E 1.0 is the total package picture book of 2018!
This book is the real deal! Shanda's gorgeous illustrations and storytelling knock this debut picture book out of the park! Charlotte is adorable and my kids (ages 6, 8 & 9) LOVED the dog Blutooth -and his side story. :) This is such a fun and playful read! Great concept. Very relevant. Very well written. A win for Little Brown Books! I (we) can't wait to read more from Shanda!

Everything about this book is right!
I bought this for my 5 yo daughter and we have absolutely loved it. In the book Charlotte is trying to update the doll’s database - that is probably the only bit that is beyond the full understanding of a 5yo ( the older kids might enjoy the joke more), yet that hasn’t prevented her from going back to it night after night for “one more time”. So much so that my daughter even decided to dress up as Charlotte on world book day! It’s funny, shows a girl who is more interested in science/ gizmos than in dolls, shows a new way of looking at dolls - everything about this book is right!
