TROPICA® - Zucchini - Sebring (Vegetable Marrow/Field Pumpkin/Summer Squash) (Cucurbita pepo) - 8 SeedsWorth knowing: The Mediterranean vegetable zucchini (Cucurbita pepo) is a pumpkin variety. In Italian, the pumpkin is called "zucca" with its diminutive being "zucchino". In plural it is "zucchini" or "zucchetti", which is how the Swiss call this versatile vegetable. There are lengthy, oval, round, marbled, green or yellow fruits. Young fruits are very delicious and can be eaten whole, but can be consumed as uncooked vegetarian fruit also. Meanwhile more and more varieties are becoming known and sought-after. Fruits can be harvested over a long period of time until first frosts set in. Zucchini plants need little space, because of their bushy growth. Ideally, the vegetable is used for barbecue, being filled, roasted, or on pizza and in salads. Origin: The variety Sebring F1 produces nice, yellow fruits that also do not pale. Fruits have a very pleasant, butter-like taste and should be harvested having grown to a length of 20-25 cm so that new fruits will grow again until frost sets in. The plant is very robust and is not attacked by mildew. The yellow fruits do stand out between the green, even more distinguishable, however, is their imcomparable taste. Propagation: Ideal time for sowing is from January until mid-May. Leave the seeds to soak in water at room temperature overnight and sow them evenly spreaded afterwards. At temperatures of 20°C, germination should follow after 7-10 days. Plants can be singled out (pricked out) after 3 weeks . A sunny outdoor position is also possible from mid-May on (possibly also not until the end of May). Aubergines love a preferably warm location. Daily temperatures should range between 18°-30°C and nightly temperatures at 14°-18°C. The plants thrive best in soil rich of nutrients and being watered a lot.
