"What am I going to play"
Jarrett is a modern maestro in the Mozart mode. All of these solo concerts are inpromptu renditions on a constant flow of musical notes that entered the mans head and were in turn transferred down to his fingers and finally onto the piano keys. Imagine he sits down in front of a packed Auditorium and says under his breath "What am I going to play". If you have ever had the experience of seeing him perform a live solo piano concerts will have witness Jarrett almost wrestling with the instrument straining and grunting trying to get the most from those keys. Alas these earlier works took there toll on his health and he contracted ME and later in life suffered a stroke from which I have heard will not allow him to play the piano again. On a lighter note I heard a tale from one Jarrett concert where he came onto the stage, sat down but inspiration did not come. Apparently after what seemed an age someone from the audience shouted "The key of C" which he duly struck and the concert commenced. The Bremen/Lausanne concerts like the Koln concert are very accessible whereas some other solo concerts can be very hard to follow , they seem to me unmelodic . Bremen/Lausanne is a good place to start along with the Koln Concert if you fancy hearing this genius in action.

Difficult listen that rewards patience
Beautiful, demanding, dazzling, difficult, wonderful performance. It's really worth staying with the more challenging passages - it stays with you.

Lots of WOW moments.
There are to me many fantastic unforgettable pieces of music I’ve listened to but the two most incredible are the Jimi Hendrix 4 minute guitar solo in Machine Gun (Band of Gypsys) and the other is the last 10 minutes of Keith Jarretts 2nd piece from this Bremen concert. It’s just one of those WOW moments.

Patience is a virtue!
Paracelsus and B - we are on the same plane! Bremen is sublime - a treat every time. Lausanne likewise but the denouement of Lausanne is breathtaking, bewildering, beguiling and beyond ! The last 20 minutes of Lausanne is a sublime experience I relive anew each time! I readily plead guilty to being overly emotional at times but I also speak the truth! Buy this album and it will repay you again and again and again. Best Wishes Mick X

This is it.
This knocks 'Koln' out of the ball park, it really does. It's Keith's greatest recording by a good country mile. There is rich magic here, and both concerts have a wonderful 'shape'. I used to listen more to 'Bremen', which is totally inspired from beginning to end, but recently I've been listening more to 'Lausanne'. I hadn't fully appreciated it before, probably because I was so mesmerised by'Bremen'. 'Lausanne' starts with a gentle melancholy, similar to the predominant mood of the 'Kyoto' concert, but it then takes off in a variety of directions, all of them brilliant and compelling. There's a hair-raising fast section which really rocks, and it's difficult to see how he could improvise at this level at such a speed. And finally he takes us on a journey to the shores of Elysium in the last twenty minutes. I can't think of any of his other live recordings that comes close to this, although they are all worth investing in. Keith was like a lonely warrior of the soul in his late twenties, an extraordinary cultural phenomenon. Buy this and treasure it for the rest of your life.

Top notch solo improvisations by a true musical genius.
This is Keith Jarrett at his creative best in a solo context. As great and acclaimed as the Koln Concert was, this set is the real deal. More inspired and much better sound quality.
