Yosemite SW: Yosemite Valley and Wawona Map (National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map, 306)

Paper is water resistant and map is large and clear with good detail including miles estimates between locations.

It's not the fault of National Geographic, but the lawsuit between the National Park Service and Delaware North (who claimed names like Curry Village belonged to them) was settled, so the names of many of the buildings on the map are incorrect. This will be confusing to those who are unaware of the lawsuit or new to Yosemite Valley. Otherwise, great map.

Great map, very sturdy (though heavy if you are hiking with it and weight is a concern). Shows trails at a very useable level and good backup in case your GPS isn't working.

A huge amount of information is buried within this compact map, and it went with me everywhere in Yosemite. There is nothing like a real map, not some tourist junk that only shows what they want you to find so they can sell you something.Roads, trails, elevation, topography, it's all here. Learn to read a real map and feel the power!

Very useful map with MGRS grid coordinates.

I love these maps. Small enough to carry on hikes, large-scale enough to be useful, and cover enough area to let one fantasize about future trips. The waterproof-ness and sturdiness are also a plus. I much prefer these old school maps to printing custom maps from CD or the internet.

This was a replacement for the one I lost. I always carry these while backpacking as they are so well done. (And.... right after I purchased this, I found the old one... So now I have a back-up. )

good for hiking

It was OK for a bit of planning and we did use it while walking in the parks however I would recommend buying a Yosemite valley walking map if that is the area you need, as the scale will be bigger and therefore you will get more detail in what is a very detailed place. These can be bought from all stores in the valley where there is a much better range than on Amazon!That said, the valley is so well signposted that you probably wont use it other than for planning and to help identify surrounding landmarks.
