Definitely a semi-firm - nice and chewy, not too soft and squishy. Satisfying to chew. Has a nice "dark" earthy licorice/anise flavor that I love in imported candies, as opposed to the overpowering/sharp/too sweet licorice that prevails here in the US. Has a nice honey taste to it as well.

I love licorice and know exactly how this should taste but this is very far off. The flavors are very light and you can barely taste the honey. Light on the honey I can understand as it says with a touch but the licorice flavor should be way better! As far as the shape goes, I see they tried to make it look like a hive but when I first grabbed a piece I needed to make sure I wasn’t grabbing some sort of roach tail!

These Gustaf's Beagles are my new favorite licorice. They're not overly sweet like most licorice in The States is, they have slightly less licorice kick to them, and an unexpected gummy bear consistency; they're also larger than you'd expect. They make a nice snack when you're looking for something a little sweet.The 2 bags of Beagles came with a small baggie. which I didn't know what it was really for but used to take a couple pieces with me when I was rushing out the door. In the heat of my jacket pocket, the consistency changed and they were much softer - I get it now. Buy these Beagles with confidence if you're a licorice lover. You'll thank me later.🙂Note: I'm not a "give everything 5 stars" person. This is my honest opinion and I hope it helps in your decision.

To me, this tastes more of honey than licorice, which is not a terrible thing but also not quite expected. Very soft, chewy/sticky, and sweet. Tastes quite good just doesn't taste or feel like the licorice I'm accustomed to.

These is very good licorice. To start it doesn't have that dark or real black flavor most have. It taste is somewhere between mild black and lil honey licorice. My wife not usually a fan of black licorice liked this. It has lil ribs across a flatten like gummy that is in fact licorice. Very easy to eat...

The little dogs are very cute. The candy is soft and easy to chew like gummies. The bags hold a good amount, it will last me a while. I like black licorice but I can only take a few pieces before I’m done lol. This was my first time trying Gustaf's Dutch Licorice and it wasn't quite what I expected. It was much more gummy than black licorice usually is and doesn't have as strong as a flavor. The candy was soft and chewy with a pleasant taste and came with a small resealable bag from the distribution company that you can use to hold 1-2 little dogs for a snack. The shape of the candy is unique and very cute. I would not recommend this for people who are big fans of black licorice the way we are used to consuming it in the US since this is a variation on that and not as strong.

Gustaf's Dutch Licorice (beagles), have been an interesting mix of flavor, and texture. It does have all the qualities of the average black licorice snack, with the addition of it being undoubtedly more sweet, and has an extra flavor that catches you off guard. The quality of the licorice seems alright, though feels more like squishy gummies than actual licorice. I have to admit that it's not my favorite because of the odd sweetness, but still worth the try nonetheless
